Record bitcoin price swings make Coinbase the most popular iPhone app

You've heard about Bitcoin, right? How couldn't you, after the most famous cryptocurrency hit its record highs yesterday, and then took a $3000 nosedive. The reason we are following Bitcoin here, is that this crazy run-up made Coinbase the most popular iOS app in the App Store yesterday.

The cryptocurrency broker, however, saw its platform and app being unavailable for a while due to the wild speculative swings that Bitcoin experienced yesterday, and is still grappling with intermittent outages. The price for one Bitcoin went from a grand in the beginning of the year, to about $17,000 on Coinbase's GDAX exchange now, after briefly flirting with $20,000. The more, the merrier, unless it pops.

Any one can tell me how these are actually valued? And who guarantees the usability of these BitCoins?
