Rear of Huawei's Mate 20 Pro gets showcased in new live image, design confirmed
Alleged Huawei Mate 20 render

It was only yesterday when the first alleged renders of Huawei’s next flagship, the Mate 20, appeared online. And today it’s the turn of the next larger sibling, the Mate 20 Pro. Rather than showing up in render form, though, the smartphone is the subject of a new live image leak.

Overall the photo itself doesn’t necessarily reveal anything too major following yesterday’s images. After all, just like the regular Mate 20, the Pro variant will seemingly adopt the same camera module in the center of the rear that is home to a dual-tone LED flash and three cameras (a main 40-megapixel sensor, a secondary 20-megapixel monochrome camera, and a telephoto lens). Nevertheless, it does finally confirm the exact placement and shape of the rear-facing fingerprint scanner that will grace both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro – yesterday’s renders of the regular model failed to include the scanner because the rear of the device that they were based on had been covered almost entirely, thus hiding the scanner. On a related note, it’s also worth noting that these images debunk rumors regarding an in-display alternative.

When it comes to the front of the smartphone it’s worth noting that no image has shown up online as yet. However, the Mate 20 Pro is expected to adopt the same look as the regular Mate 20. This means that a tall display complete with an Essential Phone-like notch up top and a slight chin down below will be present. Unlike the smaller Mate 20 that is rumored to include a 6.3-inch panel, though, the Mate 20 Pro could potentially up this to 6.9-inches.

In regards to the internal characteristics, Huawei has already confirmed that the flagship Mate 20 duo will be powered by the upcoming Kirin 980 processor. Additionally, either 6GB or 8GB of RAM is expected to be included alongside 128GB of internal storage. When it comes to the software side of things, Huawei has also revealed that it will be showcasing its new EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie at IFA in early September, which suggests the Mate 20 lineup will come with the new software pre-installed once they are announced in October.
