RIM to unveil a WLAN VoIP enabled handheld - BlackBerry 7270

Research in Motion (RIM) plans to showcase its WLAN- enabled wireless handheld - the Blackberry 7270 - as a part of the BlackBerry WLAN solution demonstration at the VoiceCon event this week. Through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server the device provides users with Push delivery of email and data, wireless access to intranet and Internet based applications, Blackberry Messenger, etc. It also allows them to make and receive wireless VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) calls via the standards-based Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) call control. The main features of the Blackberry 7270 are:

- Full QWERTY keyboard
- BlackBerry Desktop Software
- 32 MB flash memory plus 4 MB SRAM
- WLAN 802.11b
- VoIP support
- Built-in speakerphone
