RIM to take a little from Android and Windows Phone for the contacts list in BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry 10 will have a unified contacts list that will show a contact's social networking information and info from other sites such as Twitter and Facebook; this feature was a part of Android dating back to the OG Motorola DROID and Android 2.0...

I agree with you iOS is not built from the ground up with innovations. They took what was good with the smartphone as it was and improved on it in many ways. But the biggest improvements were to make it simpler with apps that you download to do specific tasks and the most was make it finger usable with nothing requiring a stylis.

ok i get it.. your android and iPhone is wayyyyy better than blackberry.... apps, support of latest hardware and dev support... but blackberry 10 is gonna change that..since playbook and bleckberry smartphones will like have the same kernel (QNX) like the new WP8 and win8... all blackberry's problem now is dev support...they need to support devs so that devs will support them.. and thats the very reason of the dev alpha device right? and i think 2013 is the bast time for BB to make a comeback... they got loads of apps(hopefully with those thousands of dev alpha), support of latest hardware etc etc.... all i want to say is that, need more competition!!! one on the new company ,Jolla (the one that the ex nokia people make to support maemo/meego and mer project and they will make an OS base on these too and the REAL FULL LINUX, android is linux base, not a full linux) said that there's always a room for more competitor... so BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Jolla and the newly open source WebOS can still gain consumers hearts if they offer something that is really different or superior from each other.. BB has BBM and i hope that apps for BB device can be ported to PB like the microsoft did to the new WP8 to win8 tablet/loptop, they share same core!!!

Looks very WP7... But still, its a nice and classic design from blackberry. GOOD LUCK BLACKBERRY! MAY YOUR BB OS 10 BE A MAJOR SUCCESS!

Whatever you say bro...It doesn't matter how good an OS is, as long as it doesn't have developers support, it will never beat one that does. Just look at iOS and Android and WP7, the perfect example. Android and WP7 both run circles around iOS in functionality, and iOS is so bad that Apple has to use "it has the best apps" as one of their selling points when the apps aren't even developed by them nor are most of them free, but it still sells because it has apps.

yeah its true... but thats the point why RIM is giving devs thousands of dev alpha devices right? to make the new OS ready for people who are hungry for apps.. but did you know that BB has an alternative to the apps that people are enjoying on android and iOS (WP doesnt really have the apps that these to have) the likes of instagram, temple run etc... there's molome and tomb escape as an altenative... and i think they are small devs that need to be supported... why dont you just please be happy about that BB wants to make a competition on these two (three) giants? and all i want is competition.. so lets just be happy about that ok... these companies wants to go head to head to each other.. and make us happy... and im just wondering, why you guys hate BB much?

i think RIM dont want to make the same mistake like they did to PlayBook... troll, why you hate BB so much? why you will write hate messages on every BB news? what did they ever do to you? its clearly that you are an android fan... an obsess one! you really want to be control by that robot? because you really bash RIM just to tell other people that Android is way better... and what makes me hate android is its fans and manufacturers who skinned it!! they are too obsess about the OS and i think they are really to kill anyone who will claim that it is the worst!!! and i think its not a good thing.. coz crime starts on that way..

We don't want to see only three OS, there are few things which are people looking in every other OS, wish RIM all the best...

RIM will lost a lot of money on licensing from Google and Microsoft for a failing OS. Why not using Android OS or MS WP8 instead of mixing it with a few Apps, BB 10 is doom.

The PlayBook has done this for a while now. This really isn't anything new. The PlayBook has always been precursor to BB10.

The PlayBook has been running Android apps since 2.0 was launched.

You mean still from Maemo 5? Maemo 5 was the first OS with deep contacts' services integration. But, it has to be mentioned that Americans invented everything.

Ummm phone arena, a unified contacts list wasn't available SINCE the Droid, it launched on webOS on the PALM PRE . Its was called "Synergy" in case you didn't know

Been reading up on Synergy. Seems like WebOS is a forgotten OS...wish it was still a player or parts of it were being used more by others OS's. Synergy pre dates Android 2.0. Maemo 5? It debuted around the same time as Android 2.0....lil harder to call on that one....unless contact integration was there before Maemo 5.
