RBC survey shows 27% of Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus buyers are coming from an Android phone

A survey of 6000 consumers taken by brokerage house RBC Capital Markets, discovered that there will be strong demand for the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus. No, the report was not penned by Captain Obvious. As far as the iPhone 6 is concerned, the survey shows consumers split down the middle when it comes to deciding between the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 and the 5.5 inch Apple iPhone 6 Plus...

Android has like so much market share that it would be hard not to find a survey with 20% of them going to Windows Phone or Blackberry.

Exactly. The term "Android user" is almost synonymous with "mobile phone user".

But that makes them the most likely people to switch also. Most of those android market share is the result of throw away devices. It is why Windows loves the 521/520 line, it sold, because it was cheap. However, as a result, people with 4gb of internal ram, are less likely to stay with android when given a choice between the two. Most do not care to root, most do not care you can install keyboards, most do not care. Hell in our tech center, of the 30+ note 3's I get to so gracefully see used a day, know how many are rooted? How many have custom keyboards? How many have a custom launcher? 0. The exact words are, I tried them, went back to stock. Apple has a loyalty, currently for android it is loyalty to an OEM more so than android itself.

How many times do we hear this before or at an Apple launch? Dwindling marketshare "year over year" debates a different figure. How long does Apple and Gazelle feel they are going to get away with skewing numbers to perceive demand? No doubt these offerings by Apple are in greater demand than previous versions, but, I know in my band of consituents, only 2 people out of 31 poeple I've recentlyv talked to are purchasing the new iphones. These are already iphone people. Not one of the Android folks has said they are dumping Android. John B.

LOL. Because a survey by a brokerage house with stock holdings in Apple would never be biased towards a particular outcome: "RBC lifted its price target on Apple to $114 from $110 previously. Shares of the Cupertino tech giant were up 0.44% to $101.28 in recent trade."

So... RBC? As in Royal Bank of Canada? You know, the one that modeled it's branches after the Apple Store? The one that included an iPad with new accounts? Mmm hmm... Paid survey.
