Qualcomm forced to play fair with competitors after settlement with Taiwan regulator

Qualcomm's anti-trust case in Taiwan ended with a settlement in which the company agreed to change its practices when it comes to licensing patents and invest $700 million in the country on top of the reduced fine.

Lol Qualcomm got off so lightly They were already gonna spend hundreds of millions for 855 on TSMC's 7FF Now all it seems is they'll have to stick with TSMC another year or two and invest in some Taiwanese unis/startups

"charging royalties, based on the price that a smartphone has for consumers, is fair game" Now why would Apple (or Samsung, or any other premium product oem) sign agreements with Qualcomm in Taiwan and not in a country where the royalty is a fixed value?
