Qualcomm puts EV-DV on hold

Qualcomm has decided to put EV-DV technology on hold due to lack of interest from the CDMA industry. EV-DV is 3G high-speed data standard, which supports speeds of 3 Mbps on CDMA 2000 networks. Although it is a faster and more efficient alternative to EV-DO technology (supports maximum speed of 2.4 Mbps), carriers still prefer to launch EV-DO because of the existing EV-DO hardware and because of EV-DOrA - Revision A of EV-DO technology - which adds many of the features of EV-DV. However, Qualcomm hasn't entirely abandoned EV-DV technology, claiming that they will continue to monitor market for interest in this high-speed data standard.
