Qualcomm and Apple collaborating on a new iPhone: more rumors
After a rumor from November said that a GSM/CDMA iPhone using Qualcomm’s hybrid chipset is in the works, now DigiTimes, citing market sources, informs that the chipset manufacturer is indeed in talks with Apple for a future cooperation. The reason is reportedly found in the fact that Qualcomm is concerned about its market share and thus has decided to seek collaboration with Apple, which currently gets its chips from Infineon.

Other big players on the smartphone market, RIM and Palm, are also relying on other chip suppliers, Freescale and Marvell respectively. Qualcomm is currently working intensively with HTC, Samsung and LG, but you know what they say - the more, the merrier.
