Probable LTE Nexus 4 passes through Bluetooth SIG

0. phoneArena posted on 25 Oct 2013, 11:33

There have been rumors that Google may be introducing the Nexus 5 at a slightly higher price point (although Google Play's "accidental" posting don't support the idea), and adding in an official LTE variant of the Nexus 4 as the low-end model in the lineup. There hadn't been much proof to support the idea, but a new filing at the Bluetooth SIG seems to confirm an LTE Nexus 4 on the way...

They'd better update the original Nexus 4 to let it work with LTE bands...

Phonearena: hey we found another mob inspiring rumor to publish! Even though we know its just an error let's write an article anyway! Just imagine the ad revenue we'll receive when a trustworthy source like droidlife references our bs article!

I'm pretty sure Droid Life said this was a mistake and was from a sloppy filing.

You are assuming that there will be a 8 GB Nexus 5, which isn´t very likely.
I would bet more on:
Nexus 4: $249 for the 8GB model, and $299 for the 16GB model
Nexus 5: $349 for the 16GB model, and $399 for the 32GB model
Or even the dissapearance of the Nexus 4 8 GB model and go even cheaper.
I´m just saying this cause a $199 phone could actually lose money, and Google may want to give the phones "as cheap as possible", but I doubt that losing money is in their plans (or any other company for the matter).

Google was already selling the 8GB Nexus 4 at $199. Why raise it when the Nexus 5 is out? It costs around $110 to make (by analyst estimates).
Also, this rumor is wrong. It's a re-certification for bluetooth low energy. But speculation is fun too.

$110?! I would think $130-140, the specs are dated but I didn't think they were that dated.

I only have one question. Where, is Nexus 5? (Harvey Dent)

I have been thinking about geeting a Nexus 5 but my only reason to upgrade is the slightly bigger screen. If it wasn't because my carrier is T-mobile I buy the old LG G-Pro because of its 5.5" screen (but the phone is designed to work in AT&T).

But having LTE is not an advantage for me yet because T-mobile still don't have LTE in NYC. And even when my Nexus 4 is set to receive in the T-mobile LTE band I still have not being able to find not even one place in NYC were T-mobile LTE works. Even in 4G T-mobile is molasses slow in NYC (it averages 0.01 to 0.09 Mbps downloads).

And I don't consider any other of the changes important for me. In fact, I consider the N5 less beautiful than the N4 because of its cheapy plastic looks construction.

I don't see why the Nexus 4 should resurface for sale when the Nexus 5 is supposedly being released soon. Who chooses the past iteration when the new version is available?

Another week gone without an official Nexus 5 reveal/announcement.

Starting to resent Google for not meeting the release date rumors.

Insane, I know.
