Is there any real benefit of having displays of over 1080p, on phones?

Or having a 1080p display? You don't see pixels with a display that has 300ppi(unless you get really close but why would you?), so why bother put 440ppi if it's going to require bigger batteries and more processing power? I'm sick of all this hardware and software gimmicks.

Unless it's a 6 inch phone or so it's a waste

720p on a 5 inch will result in 295 ppi quite enough but when you talk about more than 5 inch especially 6 inch 1080p is needed at most

Is the sentence "htc's beloved ultrapixel" for irony? Because if not your brain is damaged or something!!!!

I have seen a lot o people talking about the TI processor, but no word from google, they just talked about the 18 months policy

My wife's iphone 4 runs terrible on the update

My dads 4 runs fine. A tad lag here and there, but nothing unmanageable, although it is differing between users.

Why is HTC going with the U-pixel. If people doesn't like that. Why continue? I think their products will sell more if it were 13mp.

W8, iOS 7 or Android? You were very specific for the first two and extremely vague for the last. Gaming on a 64-bit A7 processor with iOS 7 can't be beat right now

why would you need to hardcore game on a phone, candy crush sure, temple run sure but basic phones can run those fine, if you hardcore game you should have a ps3, xbox 360 or a pc not a phone

Or a PS Vita. That said, considering the Xbox features and phone functionality, Windows Phone 8 is hard to beat for the true "hardcore" gamer, especially as more titles are released and components approach console and computer performance.

The biggest handicap Windows phone has is the processing power. It may run very smooth but there's not a lot of Ooomf under the hood. Of course that's not much of a problem anymore with the snapdragon 800 on board.

well even with that duel core was enough and now since the 800 is aboard expect more hardcore games for the platform

Dear ray, which do you prefer out of windows phone or android? Ray: ios.

People with an open mind can find value in all three OSs. I used android and iOS on a daily basis. Many others do too. Especially in the US.

I'm android fans, i'm having Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note 10.1 last year model and now i'm using a Galaxy note 3. And sorry to say but the Ray answer is true the android tablet is lacking tablet optimized apps (i love Note 3 and i hate small screen phone like iPhone 5s and i dont care about 64bit processor). But i must admit the iPad probably the best tablet at the moment, since my old note tablet is kinda laggy... Still android tab have their own advantage over the iPad like expandable storage, usb otg, better screen size ratio, cheaper, more features (like mini apps & multiwindows), etc

Windows 8 tablets can't be beat If spec'd right. You can get one with an i7 loads of ram and storage. Idk how customizable they are as far as graphics cards, but since its windows the potential os there. Something a 64 bit A7 can't do. Pricing is the true devil for windows, whereas versatility is the ipads weakness and optimization is androids. And while iPad is staying stagnant with its weakness the other two are making progress.

Hey Ray, A lot of people complain that 1080p and 720p displays on a phone is all the same, and the difference between them cannot be found with our naked eye. But recently i checked out note 3 and note 2 side by side and i couldnt take my eyes off of note 3, i could see the vibrancy of colours and clarity, so does the eye catchyness just depend on the brightness(nits) it puts out or is it the ppi?? Will a phone with 720p and 400+ nits look just as cool???

Ever since the iOS 7 update, the majority of iPhone owners have been experiencing terrible battery life, random rebooting, crashing, BSOD... There have already been 3 updates ever since but none of these constant problems have been removed. It's a bug-infested mess so what would you suggest owners can do to avoid this?

Hey Ray I wanted to know that will qualcomm be launching a more powerful processor than its snapdragon 800 chipset in coming months for mobile(like an octacore or a processor with higher clock speed)..? and also what is the future for flexible displays, Will there be flexible chipset and battery too..?
