Pebble smartwatch delayed, won't be ready for the holidays

The highest funded project in the history of Kickstarter, the Pebble smartwatch, has been delayed and will not make it in time for the holidays; when paired with a mobile device like a tablet or smartphone, the watch can display notifications, message alerts and alarms...

This is crazy I was thinking how cool would it be to have a watch like an iPod Nano that displays messages and connects with your smartphone. Should have patented my idea lol

How long ago did you think this? Reason I ask is because there has been a list of products that have done something like this before (though at different price ranges). Even before the smartphone (I mean the modern day smartphone like the iPhone where there are accessories that use the phone for various things), there was MSN Direct watches made by Fossil in 2004. It was able to look up sport scores, your email, calendar events, the weather, and so forth. It was really ahead of its time, but sadly I don't think that many people really cared about it back then


Here is what it looked like.

So, even if you had the idea for a iPod nano on your wrist, I think MSN and Fossil would have already had the main patents you would have needed to make it (and like ReddD said, Sony made a wristwatch for Android as well).

I'd rather save up for the imwatch if I were to get anything like this....WAY more features and looks AWESOME!
