Palm Pixi now available from Sprint

Palm Pixi now available from Sprint
Without all of the excitement and fanfare seen when the Palm Pre launched this past summer, the Palm Pixi officially goes on sale at Sprint today. With the latest version of webOS under its' hood. the difference between the two devices is really all about the hardware. The Pixi lacks a Wi-Fi radio, and has a downgraded camera at 2MP vs. the Pre's 3MP shooter. The display, at 2.63 inches, is much smaller than the 3.1 inch screen found on the earlier model. But all of this cutting back has allowed Palm and Sprint to offer a webOS device at a lower price. The Pixi costs $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and your signature on a 2 year contract. Anyone looking to spread a little Pixi dust today?

I feel bad for anything related to Sprint...they've got good deals and some decent phones, but we're talking about a company that had to let a bunch of customers go a little while back because they were costing the company too much money, and now they're going to have to fire a bunch of employees to reduce operating costs. Their unlimited everything plan isn't matched by anything I've seen, but price alone doesn't make a great cell phone company.

Verizon has some awesome phones now and EXCELLENT service, but it costs too much. Thus, I'm switching to Sprint and getting the Pre.

That's a shame that you say it out loud but you still don't really can get VZW for just as cheap as Sprint with the exception of local calling plans...get a quote from the V before you regret your life with Sprint.

I missed PJ224, when vzw gets this phone soon it'll be alright then. The Pixi is going to be the new hot/cheap smartphone on all the carriers, reminiscent of the Centro except this time vzw won't wait 2 years to get it

Can you post a link to quotes of matching prices? I have seen prices close to Sprint but more expensive in the end, if Sprint isn't good in a specific area it's not indicitive of their whole network. Apple/iphone and Verizon subs/employees share an elitist attitude that plays well with their ilk but at some point you all have to realize that attitude will only go so far. The "you get what you pay for" mantra is getting old and less relevant
