P30 Pro leaks in the flesh, Huawei details the new Dual-View video recording feature
It recently took down a promo page for the P30 that showed all the new camera features, and the goodies you will be getting with the phone in Singapore, like a free Huawei GT watch and a JBL Clip 2 Bluetooth speaker. These goodies are probably going to be a global promotion with each purchase of a new P30, but what made us drool are the explanations to the dry camera specs that we already know about, like 40MP Super Spectrum sensor, 10X hybrid zoom, and so on.
The Super Spectrum label likely stems from the fact that the Quad Bayer arrays improve low-light performance by utilizing two neighboring yellow pixels instead of the usual greens for an RYYB arrangement. That is a pretty unorthodox setup in our book and Huawei promises "super-sensing" wonders down to being able to take a good shot of fireflies or a candlelit dinner. We'll believe that marketing when we test it, but the kit looks mighty promising from the get-go.
P30 Pro Dual-View video feature
Another interesting idea is to record video with two cameras at once in a split-screen mode, so you can capture the broader scene with the wide-angle lens, but zoom in on the action with the periscope, for instance. Huawei is even teasing that mode in the promo video it outed yesterday, and now we know what it meant under Dual-View Video. It does say that this feature will be coming with an additional OTA update, though, so not everything is baked in, it seems.
