OnePlus to get rid of the infamous invite system this October, a pre-order one to take its place

The manufacturer behind the so-called “flagship killer” of 2014, OnePlus, just held an AMA (ask me anything) session on Reddit, in which revealed that it will be getting rid of its invite system for the OnePlus One sometimes in October...

I was an early forum member/adopter, so I got my OnePlus already (in fact I got a total of 3 from other invites I received). I ended up receiving 3 more shareable invites from OnePlus (since I bought the phone early) that I'm currently sitting on which expires in a few days, so at least the are still pushing invites and selling the device. (I may give one away from a serious forum member on here). BTW the phone has been awesome and damn nice having 64GB of onboard storage for only $350

I love to have an invite if you still have one avaliable :) I'm new here and was looking over reviews and it got me very interested. Awesome specifications, design and overall performance of this phone. For the price of it, i would rather buy 2 awesome OPO and share it with my partner!

First of all, this is NOT a non profit company people, stop listening to the BS of they don't make any money. 2nd what a ugly UI. I mean really. I know Nobody wants to offend the great Cyngn, I know you can skin it bla bla.. It's just ugly. Last thing, it's NOT cutting edge, not even close. The s805 has been for 3 month's in the GS5 LTE-A that I imported from S Korea.

Someone should write up this OnePlus case for business schools as a topic on how "not" to launch a new product. The invite system is dumb - why would you want to limit the number of customers? The only reason you would limit your customers is you knew you don't have the supply chain support. If you are launching a product with poor supply chain support, then you're just bad at running a business.

The One Plus One ship has long since sailed for me. I remember how thrilled I was to see it with 64GB of storage for $350 and then how disappointed I was to see the invite system. And then shortly after it's release came better hardware, and Android L with 64bit support, both of which removed much of the incentive to buy the product when I already have a Nexus 5. I'd rather wait for the better hardware to come out at this point. And maybe next year when a 64bit One Plus Two comes out without the invite system I'll give it a try but for now it's out of the question, they've screwed up their debut project and it'll be hard to earn my support again.

Huawei and ZTE are being more assertive about offering phones in the US. Sony is getting their phones to the US sooner and working on getting prices down. Other reputable Chinese phone companies are soon to establish a US presence. There will be many phones at many different price points to pick from. I really don't see any reason to care about OnePlus and their gimmicks, deceptions, and sleaze.

Big whoop. I settled back in July for a "mid range" Huawei Ascend Mate2 and couldn't be happier! Mid range specs? But it isn't a flagship? Who cares? I don't run benchmarks, I don't run the cutting edge 3d games. I use it as a PHONE, camera, browser, email, texting and a few videos. I'll bet the bulk of users out there do the exact same thing with their devices. Then why pay a premium, for something that you'll get rid of in 18 months or less? So it "might" open an app, 0.03 seconds faster than mine, but I didn't pay 700-1000 dollars, or, got suckered into a 2 year overpriced contract either. One thing my "mid range" device will do that a lot of "flagships" won't do, is, I can easily get 2-3 days battery life with moderate to heavy use. I'll take that over a flagship any day. This screw up with OnePlus did one thing positive, for me that is. Opened my eyes that having killer specs & price isn't worth begging, selling your first born, just to be invited to spend your money. I took a chance with a "mid range" device through Amazon, since I could return it, but I won't be returning it! It's fantastic!

Expect some delays (OF COURSE!) What these assbags meant was DECEMBER or JANUARY With all their nonsense and unfulfilled promises in the past, people lost trust already having said that, nobody cares anymore!

One Plus What? Who? When? If you're going to sell me something don't play games with me, if I want to play games I'll go to Ralph's. You had me, then you made me wait, now it's too late. Goodbye....One Plus whatever !

I don't get it..... are you people ignorant? Must be because you don't actually have a Oneplus to call your own and you are mad at their intelligent invite system for neglecting you. It's pretty obvious people still care, and it's also obvious this phone is not going to be passed up much by the note 3 or the z3. Wishful thinking but Oneplus remains one of the fastest and most fluid well rounded phones you can purchase. The tip of the iceberg is the price at 350$ when every other flagship is double that and half the performance. Haters gun hate, in the end Oneplus will win. It's not too late for Oneplus, will they beat our the crap samsung puts out? No, but they will establish themselves just fine anyway. You people are hilarious haha XD

I have been looking for an invite to buy the Oneplus for my son for about a week now. He is really impressed with the design and high end processor. I still don't mind their current marketing strategy. They try and think out of the box.
