OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei tried to troll Xiaomi's ephemeral polls, but it backfired beautifully

Hey, remember that unfortunate poll that Xiaomi hosted a couple of days ago? You know, the one where asked its fans to cast votes for either stock Android or the company's own heavily-skinned MIUI, and deleted promptly after vanilla 'Droid scored a crushing victory? Yes, that's the one...

It's his choice how he dresses, he has more money than most could dream of being co founder of OnePlus & Oppo. I would rather see someone just dress normally no matter how rich they are than half the so called celebrities walking round with thier 100 grand watches and gaudy lambo's.

I'm sure 70% of iOS 11 users if they were given the opportunity to downgrade to iOS 10 or lower , they will do it instantly ...

I'm sure 100% of Android users would update to the latest version of Android the day it comes out if they were given the option. But guess what, they don't get the option.

The vast majority of Android users do not care about updates, just so you may know.

I'm sure the iOS sheep would love to be able to change their icons, home screen and etc if they were given the option. Who the hell wants their phone to look like the next guy or gal? Maybe, baaaah baaaah baaaah?lol

Your phone icons will somehow make your phone experience better? The less time I look and care for the icons and customization and s**t like that the more time I have to do some work on my phone or watch a video or waste time in 9gag.

"Your phone icons will somehow make your phone experience better?" What kind of dumb question is this, especially when the person to whom you replied to said: "Who the hell wants their phone to look like the next guy or gal?" So he was talking about aesthetics, not necessarily about phone experience. Try to keep up with the context of a comment.

I rather have same icons for ever and limited customization than to have my phone get stuck loading photos, or to have app crashes cause the developer didnt give a f**k for the android version.

Well Martin when was the last time you saw an Android phone get stuck loading photos, or to have app crashes? Probably S3 days. You are living in the past man, iOS is not more stable and bug free than Android at the moment so you have basically no advantage in this regard.

Hate to say it but mine did on my note 8. I had to search around to figure it was one of samsungs bixby app that was causing it. Uninstalled it and good to go now but sucks that their own app caused my photo gallery to freeze and flicker.

I don't know "iCloud", Bixby can't be uninstalled, at most it can be deactivated with a 3rd party app. So to me "iCloud" it looks like you are lying.

The only app I have issues with on my note8 is snapchat. s**t is poorly optimized for android. And the new update for it is horrendous.

i would be really happy if my 3rd party apps would look different than the next guy or gal, but nah. i will stare at my homescreen/app drawer all day, thanks.

"i will stare at my homescreen/app drawer all day, thanks." With Android, you can - of course -make your homecreen and app drawer look different from the next guy or gal... So what's your point, really?

Of course, a newer Android feature generally means better performance and battery management. That alone is reason enough for a lot of people. And you can install the latest Android on mosts phone via Root - Costum ROMs. The ones that don't have options are iOS users.

26. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

I'm sure you are 100% wrong about that. Most Android users don't even know what version they use or what the latest is. Nor do they even check the setting to see if there is a new firmware.

28. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

iOS users (outside US) aren't that update keen either btw. If I look in our MDM tool, only a handful of our iPad/iPhone users are running the latest. I even see a few iOS 8.x users

Well RebelwithoutaClue to me it looks like we are talking about people that do know or there would be no reason to talk about this situation.

31. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

I'm sure 100% of Android users would update to the latest version of Android the day it comes out if they were given the option. Where does it say he talks about people that do know? And even then he is incorrect. Plenty of people that DO know wait with updating so the first bugs are squashed

It's the overall context man. We are on Phonearena commenting on an article where guys at One Plus make fun of their competitor Xiaomi for deleting a poll. There are very low chances somebody would talk about grandmas and grandpas when referring to "Android users".

40. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

So when hollowmost said: I'm sure 70% of iOS 11 users, he was referring to just the iOS users that come to Phonearena or at least the tech-savy ones? So are you sure that is what Zylam meant or is that your interpretation of it? Don't mention statistics when it's not clear at all what context this statistic is about. But even in your mentioned overall context, he is wrong. I'm an Android user and never ever update to the latest immediately when it comes available.

"I'm an Android user and never ever update to the latest immediately when it comes available." I second that. I do not hop on the latest firmware immediately after release. Never.

So you’re saying most android users aren’t technically savvy?
