OnePlus One doesn't settle – explodes instead

OnePlus just can't catch a break. From the constant ridicule of its invite system, to the merciless bashing of its badly thought-out contests – the company only has its actual product – the OnePlus One – to be proud of.

Sick, sick, sick! I used to be mildly interested in the OPO, though I had no plans to ask for an invitation, but after the "Ladies First" initiative, I'm no longer interested at all. And now their batteries are suspect - pending investigation, of course.

Also, I would be careful to ridicule the phone before the results of the investigation come out. That Galaxy S3 that caught fire in London was microwaved to dry it out after getting wet. That iPhone that caught fire on a flight from Australia had been improperly reassembled after a screen repair, allowing a screw to fall through the device and short out the charging plate. It's possible the phone just went and did this on its own, but don't be quick to judge. And this is coming from someone who really doesn't give a about OnePlus or the OnePlus One.

It is possible that this phone exploded because it can no longer take anymore ugly selfies from its owner.

For there being so few OPO's out in the public's hands, to have one blow up seems like a real blow to their quality control on batteries. I used to laugh at all the iPhones that blew up or caught fire, but there were millions of them out and about... there can't be more than a few tens of thousands of OPO's out right now, can there be? One more reason to avoid phones made in China...

At least OnePlus will take action and give him a new phone and pay for his medical bills, and not asking an invite from him like, "OnePlus don't look at explosions, they just ask for invite and walk away."

Cool story bro, you should be careful of your phone, TV, fridge, underwear etc. because they will explode, they're all made in China.

I don't see why all the ridicule, OnePlus handled this pretty well. It's not like Samsung's Galaxies and iPhones aren't blowing up...

You're treating that as if it's the only thing they offered to reimburse the guy for.

So there is always the person who wants to point and say... 'FAIL' but in fairness, by the 'at least someone had an iPhone to record it' tone of the article, it may be hard to remember a few iPhones have also spontaneously combusted. My advice to the commenters, grow up. Electronic devices fail even ones that cost a lot more than a phone.

All those crazy specs at a low price.... I wonder why.. Oh wait a minute...!!!

'While the iPhone 5S includes a handful of new features that set it apart from Apple's previous model, the actual cost to make the phone hasn't changed very much, according to a new study. An IHS teardown of the new smartphone found that the components that make up a 16-gigabyte iPhone 5S cost $190.70.' --that was from NBC news btw, so... maybe... like read sometime

Knowing this news make me glad, that for you to get the device you need a cash and an invite. LOL. luckily, I only have the cash and not the invite.
