OnePlus 7 leak details cameras, suggests Pro variant will sport curved display

After providing the world with separate 360-degree render videos of both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, today tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer has taken to Twitter to reveal a few extra details about the upcoming flagship duo.

Kicking things off with the OnePlus 7 Pro, this smartphone, as previously shown, will sport a pop-up selfie camera up front and a triple-camera setup on the rear. Details about the former haven’t yet been provided, but Hemmerstoffer did state that the rear setup will make use of a primary 48-megapixel sensor that replaces the 16-megapixel alternative found on the OnePlus 6T.

Accompanying this updated camera will be an 8-megapixel sensor paired with a telephoto lens. This sports an f/2.4 aperture and supports 3x optical zoom rather than the standard 2x zoom supported by other flagships. In addition to this, a third ultra-wide-angle camera that boasts a 16-megapixel resolution and an f/2.2 aperture will be present. This should allow the OnePlus 7 Pro to compete more directly with the likes of the Galaxy S10 lineup.

Speaking of the Galaxy S10 series, as many of you may know Samsung is a big fan of its curved AMOLED displays. And according to Hemmerstoffer, the OnePlus 7 Pro will follow in the Galaxy S10’s footsteps by adopting a curved OLED display that boasts a huge diagonal of 6.64-inches. 

On one final note, the tipster also mentioned the existence of a OnePlus 7 Pro 5G variant, thus corroborating previous rumors.

Moving over to the regular OnePlus 7, this smartphone first leaked out this morning and will sport a design that resembles that of the OnePlus 6T quite closely. In fact, the only noticeable differences are the larger in-ear speaker grill – which could be a sign of stereo speakers – and the slightly redesigned camera module.

While on the topic of cameras, it’s worth pointing out that this smartphone should also come equipped with a primary 48-megapixel camera. This will be paired with a second sensor that'll probably be a dedicated depth sensor rather than a telephoto or ultra-wide-angle camera. 

Like the OnePlus 6T that it replaces, the OnePlus 7 looks set to come equipped with a 6.4-inch flat display that boasts a small waterdrop notch above. This will be home to the selfie snapper, although once again no details were shared.

OnePlus 7 & 7 Pro specs, announcement, price

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are set to go official on May 14th at a yet-to-be-announced unveiling event. Pricing information remains unconfirmed at the moment, but the regular OnePlus 7 will probably cost somewhere between $549 and $599.

The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, could retail between $699 and $749. As for the 5G variant, this will probably cost somewhere between $849 and $899, although this model isn’t expected to reach the US and will instead be limited to a handful of European and other international markets.

At these estimated prices, users of both smartphones are set to gain access to Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 855. This chip can currently be found inside the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, LG G8 ThinQ and Xiaomi Mi 9, and should represent a decent performance increase over last year's OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. 

Accompanying the processor should be a minimum of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, separate variants with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage should be available too. The company may also go all-out with the OnePlus 7 Pro and offer a model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, although this remains purely speculation at this point.

Completing the setup on both devices should be Android 9 Pie complete with the latest version of OxygenOS. The OnePlus 7 will probably come equipped with a 3,700mAh battery while the OnePlus 7 Pro could feature a 4,000mAh cell.
