OnePlus 5 and 5T soon to be updated with new touch gesture, other improvements

Although OnePlus 6 is one of the hottest subjects these days, two other OnePlus smartphones will get important software improvements – the OnePlus 5 and 5T. New open beta updates are now available for these two devices, so if you've already flashed such a build one your OnePlus 5 or 5T, then you should receive them as OTAs (over the air).

Besides the usual under the hood improvements and bug fixes, OnePlus added a new touch gesture for both smartphones, which will allow users to double-tap to lock the screen. The new function can be found in the launcher settings, so make sure to enable it after applying the update.

According to OnePlus, this specific open beta should also improve searched history for App drawer and optimizes the scanning logic for large files. If you're planning to update to this beta build, keep in mind that it may not be as stable as the final version of the update.

Also, if you've never flashed an OxygenOS beta build on your OnePlus 5/5T smartphone, this update should weigh in at around 1.6GB. Otherwise, it shouldn't be such a large download at all.
