OnePlus 3 and 3T now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update

The moment you've all been waiting for has finally come, as OnePlus announced the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update is now available for two of its popular flagship: OnePlus 3 and 3T.

Two months ago OnePlus released a beta version of Android 8.0 Oreo for OnePlus 3, but the update was available to a limited number of users. However, the company promised to make the update available to everyone by the end of the year.

Although we can't say the same thing about the newly announced OnePlus 5T, it makes perfect sense for the Chinese company to choose to upgrade two widespread products rather than one that hasn't yet made its debut on the market.

In any case, if you own a OnePlus 3 or 3T, you should soon be able to download the Android 8.0 Nougat update. The OTA (over the air) update is pushed incrementally, so only a small number of users will get it today, but more will capture it in the next few days.

If you want to know what's new in the update that's not usually included in Android 8.0 Oreo, OnePlus published a short list of improvements:

System
  • Update to Android O (8.0);
  • Added Parallel Apps;
  • Added Picture in Picture;
  • Added Auto-fill;
  • Added Smart text selection;
  • New Quick Settings design;
  • Updated security patch to September.

Launcher
  • Added notification dots;
  • New app folder design;
  • Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

In the same piece of news, OnePlus announced that its latest flagship, the 5T will receive a similar update in early 2018, so if you plan on getting this one, you'll have to wait a little bit longer.
