At the end of November we reported
that Nokia was planning to fire about 3% of its R&D personnel. It´s become known now, just before Christmas and the New Year´s Eve that the company also intends to show the door to 2,000 of its Salo factory staff. The figure equals to almost 20% of all people currently employed at the manufacturing facility and this is quite a number of people indeed. The process is to start in 2010 and the apparent goal of the manufacturer is to optimize its expenses to make up for the decreased cell phone demand.
