Nokia Maps is probably one of the best mapping solutions out there and with its full offline capabilities it has one notable advantage over all competition…

These was epic, but probably most of the google maps users just take the same trip from job to house, so for them I thin it doesnt matter

FALSE ADVERTISING - Google Maps can be made offline. Nokia is using a MUCH older version of Google Maps on here. When you push menu on any Galaxy S3 since the fall, you can then click "make available offline". The entire area demonstrated can be made available offline. San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland etc. This should be taken down immediately.

I just tried that, but it doesn't seem to allow you to get directions or search for places without a data connection.

i don't see 100% offline mapping with Google Maps

+ Google maps
select area, cache it for offline usage but whats missing here is :-
no satellite view
no transit lines view
no my location
no navigation
no search
its all no no no then what is use that offline cache ???

+ Nokia Maps
all above works as-well-as
local search
helpline/store/shop etc numbers
shop opening/closing timing details
& the list goes on . . .& that's what Nokia Saying .

before posting this review i double checked Google & Nokia Maps on my grand duos & friends lumia 920

If Nokia is aiming at maps they must be at their ropes end considering what else can they say they is works much better than what you have on Android? Sour grapes is what it sounds like to me. Competition is great, so as Google updates it's maps continuously and when it offers everything that Nokia does, then what will Nokia use to have digs at Google with?
How often does Google take digs at their competition, I mean really? When did you see Google actually putting a competitors device in a commercial to show how their product is better than x produced product? Google doesn't even care, they advertise their products and talk about their things in their commercials and leave all that other crap to companies who want to take digs. It's pretty sad when you are well off that others have to take pot shots at you and what's worse is you shrug it off and continue to do what you do best, create and innovate without showing signs of slowing down. This is a company with it's focus set, Nokia not so much they are still trying to weather this storm of losing their own house and their once coveted number 1 spot in mobile phones. How the mighty haughty have fallen.
