Nokia announces the Booklet 3G´s specifications and price
It wasn´t that long time ago, on 24 August when Nokia officially announced they were to take on the notebook market and showcased their first netbook, the Booklet 3G. Information was sketchy at the time, but just as we expected, it appeared at Nokia World 2009 and the manufacturer has just revealed its specifications and retail price.
The Nokia Booklet 3G sports a 10.1-inch, glossy display with native resolution of 1280x720 pixels and screen orientation switcher based on built-in accelerometer. As we reported earlier, we had the chance to test it for a short while and found out 720p videos played without a hitch. The device is aluminium-plated and measures really compact size (just 19.9mm thin) and weight - 1,250 gr.
It comes equipped with Intel Atom Z530 processor running at 1.6 GHz that also supports Intel´s Hyper-threading technology. 1GB DDR2 533 MHz and 120GB hard drive with 8MB cache spinning at 4200RPM. The manufacturer has opted for a 16-cell Li-ion battery that should be able to keep your device alive for no less but 12hrs on a single charge.
The list of extra features of the Booklet 3G includes built-in Wi-Fi, 3G modem, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, 1 HDMI and 3 USB 2.0 ports plus SD card reader. It´s a good thing the netbook sports a built-in 1.3-megapixel camera with internal microphone, meaning video call functionality is at your fingertips.
At the initial announcement of the Booklet 3G we found out it would be running Windows 7, although information about the specific OS version was unavailable. Now we know there will be three versions, based on Windows 7 Starter Edition, Home Premium or Professional respectively.
The Nokia Booklet 3G will come preloaded with software like fully functional Ovi Suite (Maps, Contacts, Mail, Calendar, Store, Music и т.н.), Social Hub, Nokia Update Manager and trial version of F-Secure Internet Security 2010.
The first netbook by Nokia will roll out at a price of 575 EUR, but we still don´t know when we get to see it hit te shelves.
