Nokia allegedly scored 2.5 million Lumia 920 orders, its design chief talks shop about the chassis (video)

Long before this report, Wall Street wise guys like Goldman Sachs have apparently been backing up the truck in the last few days to load on Nokia's beaten shares, sending the stock price soaring more than 30% since last week...

have anyone noticed how pa uses words like "allegedly" or "According to" whenever they talk about the success of the lumia920, its like they have to report it because its their job, but if so, then they just have to sow a seed of doubt.

and NOW THE LUMIA 920 vs iPhone 5 comparison! -,-'

that would be the day that phonearena will never do. There would only be two results when this happens:

1. everyone knows that there really in no comparison, the lumia will crush the ip5 in every aspect, plus so much more
2. phonearena will make a new benchmark for being "most biased towards the iphone"(won't be surprised here, it's real name is iphonearena), and find ways and wordings that would still praise the ip5 and have negative ones for the 920...

so, you see bro, these are the reasons why phonearena is never gonna make that comparison. it is possible that they will do it, but they would most certainly include another phone, just to avoid direct comparisons...

...and of course we all ready know who the winner is. There is no need to do any comparison between the two. No matter the good, bad, or ugly, or same'ol , same'ol, that particular phone will always win. But the real winner is seen from the user ratings. Users are the ones who have the final say, not from any one tech reviewer.

Jeez, $700 is more than I would have expected in Hong Kong. Was planning on buying it there, now I'm not sure.

You guys do know that this is an error, right? I mean this story is claiming that the pre orders of ONE country are bigger than how many Lumias Nokia sold during the last quarter worldwide...

Yeah... no.

no bro that is not an error, that is only in China. It actually say so in the first sentence: "in a report about the launch of the Lumia 920 in China, that Nokia has so far received 2.5 million orders for the device." you might want to read it once more...

And 2.5 million really is not a big number, if you consider China's total population of 1.3 billion people (1,336,718,015 as of mid-2011). And one possible reason for this is that it was just in 2010 when nokia still had 70% of Chinese smartphone market. That is what you can probably call "name recall."

And yes, it is very possible, if the whole population of China is 1.3 billion, and the total population is 6.7 billion.... yeah, WORLDWIDE! When you come to think of it, in every five people on the planet is a resident of China...

Just how can anyone be so stupid to ignore this to even make that kind of comment....

good job for nokia & microsoft on this milestone. i suppose developers would take a peek to windows phone if they see this. the achievement is impressive remembering the manifacturer is down from number 3 to number 8 in 1 year and the OS' share percentage is very low

Lumia 920 is a great phone with a few flaws. It's too heavy. And with a 10.7mm thickness a micro SD card was expected. However Nokia should expand their wp8 lineup and bring some Midrange and entry level smartphones. And Lumia phones should reach more countries.

is a 16 oz bottle of water too heavy for you? if so i'd suggest you get out of your place of residence more. the lumia 920 weighs less than a 16 oz bottle of water.

What do you see the 820/810/822 and 510 as? Even the 900, 800, 710, and 610 are still good enough for low- and mid-range offerings.

More countries would be good as long as the language support isn't too difficult. Thankfully WP is mostly icon-based for the main screen so language is less necessary.

if it were true, "pretty big number" is "overly under-stating" it...we're talking sgs / iphone type of hype and consumer demand for a product launch, metaphorically or even literally....

Folks Nokia needs a second High end smaller smart phone. I hope that Nokia takes the old Nokia 900 body and put a 4.3 HIgh def screen in it and new Electronic circuit boards in it to run a dual core CPU and load it with the New Windows Phone 8 OS.
All Nokia current 4.3 inch screen smart phones do not have a high def screen to take them to the next level. most other smart Phone makers have a High def 4.3 inch
smart phone as well as their big screen smart phones the HTC 8X has a 4.3 high def
screen and feels easier to handle than a big Nokia 920. I will get a 920 but wanted the
the Verizon Lumia 822 to have 4.3 inch high def screen like the HTC 8X. Man OH Man
if Nokia had given the Verizon lumia 822 a high def screen it would have been the nokia device Verizon customers would line up for. the HTC 8X lacks a 32 gig model to
be what a lot of people want
