Nokia To Close California Site
Nokia announced that it is cutting about 550 jobs in networks R&D, affecting positions in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and Finland. Job cuts are part of overall plans to boost efficiency, cut costs and increase 'operational synergies,' Nokia says.

Nokia plans to close its Santa Rosa, Calif., site as part of a consolidation in the research and development unit of its Nokia Networks infrastructure division.

Nokia is also closing its small base station R&D site in Kista, Sweden, and laying off employees in its U.K. R&D site.
