Nokia N9 to get MeeGo PR1.3 update by June?

0. phoneArena posted on 30 Apr 2012, 04:06

The Nokia N9, the one and only MeeGo handset by Nokia, has sold relatively well for the company and luckily Nokia isn’t forsaking it just yet…

seriously Nokia has committed a big mistake by releasing N9 as a hobby as quoted by RobotMan... and not releasing it in India... would have sold MILLIONS... look at Samsung - even with poor design and outer materials it is gaining market in India... for God's sake Nokia thought a smaller country like Bangladesh will be a market for this masterpeice... of cource N9 is available in grey market here, but why should i purchase and not get a warranty???

disappointed Nokia fan,

it's all Elop's fault I'm starting to see why Elop was trying so hard to turn the N9 into a failure. As a Microsoft exec, he knew that the device and its MeeGo operating system were better than he let on. A good selling N9 was not part of his plan - which is to deliver Nokia's smartphone business into Microsoft's arms. Run it into the ground, and make it as cheap as possible.

If only nokia used two OS like what samsung is doing right now. Yeah, sure, we did understand you killing symbian, but the why the hell kill maemo, meego? This should have skyrocketed their sales. Nokia, please stop fooling around.

Agree with everybody here. Elop is a coporate sell out, he's in bed with Microsoft. Symbian's aged was showing, yes, but it looks realy good now after the Belle update. And if they wanted to bury it, they should have just let it ride out into the sunset gracefully, not force it death by calling it a burning platform. It was from that announcement, their value began to fall. Also MeeGo is fantastic, I love it, and everybody else does as well.

Nokia could have done this. 1) Make Symbian available on their low end devices together with Asha series. 2) Have MeeGo and WindowsPhone devices in the high end market. America wil embrace WindowsPhone as they are doing right now, and else where MeeGo will be your pride and joy.

Now, MeeGo might not be dead (hoping it's not). Maybe Elop might change his mind and give us more devices, when he realises that a total WindowsPhone investment wasn't a good idea, but he'll have to get off his knees and stop kissing Microsoft

Yah... the N9 is an amazing phone... I mean I have it and its OS is near perfection the big mistake is the lack of support for apps aside from thats it beautiful, swanky and sexy...
Oh and I hope this update also includes the fix in our screen problem,, alot of N9 users have been complaining about an annoying thing on its screen...

808 for apps

Depend on what you want
Nokia N9 as your choice for a simple phone to use, attractive looks, social networks build in, and if lack of apps doesn't bother you...
Nokia 808 if you take shots with you're camera and for the availbility of lots of apps compared to Nokia N9.
Nothing is yet known about Carla as it wasn't leaked like Nokia Belle but my guess that 808 will get the Carla update.
For multi-tasking both are great but I think that the Nokia N9 has a slight edge over the Nokia 808...
Hope this help :D

If you'll use it for it's camera, then buy 808, for it's OS will be upgraded from belle to carla. Also, being a symbian, even though it was killed by Elop, it still gets supports and stuffs :)

Quick Heads Up! Word on the net is that the N9 is still selling at or above the volumes of the Lumia phones with less availibility and carrier support :)!

A fantastic phone that just gets better and better with each update. Why a ceo who takes a company from 23% markets share down to what 10% in about a year or so. And refuses to recoup the investment in meego by selling it worldwide, still has a job is beyond me. Nokia could be making a lot of money on this phone. Is the board of directors all drunk?

Folks sometimes Microsoft shots itself in the foot and it did that big time with Nokia. the N9 was an award winning smart phone When Nokia decided make Windows 7 .5 their smart phones OS all Microsoft had to do is to work with Nokia and break away from it's windows 7 series specs a bit and get or make windows 7.5 drivers for the components in the Nokia Meego N9 and speedily bring to the market a powerful smart phone made out of Nokia's N9 a true flag ship smart phone. I donot see why micro soft programmers could not have down this because they did'nt windows smart phones lost some precious time having some great Nokia hardware to the market. as good as the lumia 800 is it was no match for the Nokia N9 from which it got it's Phone case design from
