Nokia Lumia tablet concept is a giant Lumia phone, much like the iPad is a giant iPhone

Here’s a neat but not so little concept - this imagined Nokia Lumia Windows Phone inspired tablet looks just like a big Nokia WP device…

If its windows 8 there's no reason why it should be a single core....I know its just a concept, just saying though.

Well..since its not mentioned which cpu it is...I hope its from intel's latest atom series...in tests single core atom proved better than dual for arm based cpu...so if this tab is coming with atom...i won't mind buying it.

That test that you are referencing was also done while the Atom CPU was clocked at 3x the voltage of the ARM cpu. It wont be that strong in real life, as the battery life would be worse than a crapdragon with that much voltage. Like a few hrs at best. The real tests wont be seen until they lower the voltage and power to something more realistic for portable use.

1.4 ghz interesting. Windows seems to have the idea that ghz does not mean better performance. Cause android needs a powerhouse to run properly but windows runs just as good on single cores imo

Android runs fine with a 600 mhz cpu
and just because it has better specs doesn't mean that they are necessary for android to work its just there to power apps that demand a lot

All boils down to the apps. If they can cover the apps wanted, it's a great concept. While the apps are growing in Marketplace, there are still gaps (I have a WP7 phone). The ability to handle all the business needs (Office, SharePoint, etc) and have the consumer apps would make it a winner.

Windows 8 Specs
- 1Ghz or Faster Processor
- 1GB RAM for 32bit x86
- 2GB RAM for 64bit x64
- 16GB HDD for 32bit
- 20GB HDD for 64bit
- DirectX 9 Graphic device with WDDM 1.0 driver or higher
So I think for ARM Tablets, we'll also need 1GB RAM

512 mb of ram on a device coming out at the end of 2012... I mean say what you want about the efficiency of windows mobile, but cell phones have had 512 mb of ram since the end of 2009. I suppose that won't matter to the mass market but seems a bit weak to me and to others on this site.

This is what's ALL wrong with tablets for ME.. I do NOT want a giant phone! I want a fully capable tablet that can do 99% of what my laptop can!

I thought it was cool right up until they did the specs, then I realized this was not one of the full windows 8 pc compatible tablets. nope.. moving on. Too bad, it really stood out asthetically.

What I've been saying ever since the iPad came out...
I need another reason to buy a $500 dollar product other than having a larger screen than my phone.

Even though Nokia is loosing market share in recent years we can not say that it disappear from mobile market. They disparately need a good capable leader and a OS platform. I do not know Mr. Elop & Windows can full fill this. We will wait and see.

Like lumia phone design, but not so much the tablet design. To me it looks kinda ridiculous.

Technically isn't an ipad a large ipod. With the occassional one that can use 3G signal from att or vzw

I think that the screen shape would also be different. Nokias (and WP7 for that matter) are natively "widescreen", so it'd be less square-shaped than the concept illustration above, and less ipad-like. Just my $0.02

I personally think the design is more elegant than the iPad's but I also think the specs for a W8 tablet is on the weak side. But then again, as I surprisingly discovered with my recently-acquired WP7 device, maybe the OS would run great on those less powerful specs.

Why not 16:9 aspect ratio ? I don't like the 4:3 ratio on the iPad becaus of black bars while watching video !

The tablet looks great, in my opinion, though I don't see how this 4:3 screen is going to have a res of 1280x800, which is 16:10... :D
