Nokia 7 Plus scores official Android 9.0 Pie update
Well, that was fast. Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s outspoken Chief Product Officer, announced just a few days ago that a “final round of tests” was underway for Android Pie “quality assurance” on the Nokia 7 Plus, and already, the official rollout has begun.

Of course, the popular 6-inch mid-ranger could have received a stable update to the newest OS version even earlier, but HMD apparently ran into some “tricky platform specific certification bugs.”

The public beta program was thus prolonged, allowing the OnePlus 6 to beat the Nokia 7 Plus to the punch and become the second non-Pixel device to run a silky smooth and polished Android 9.0 flavor.

Finishing third in the race to Pie is obviously not bad either, especially with HMD Global currently working on many other delicious software treats for low and mid-end phones.

While we don’t have an official, complete changelog yet, the handset’s participation in Google’s Android One program means you’re looking at pretty much the same tweaks, enhancements, and add-ons as those available for the Pixel and Pixel 2.

Things like a Do Not Disturb mode, a Dashboard feature providing a detailed view of all your mobile activities, Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness functionality, as well as gesture-based intuitive navigation are at the top of the “vanilla” Android 9.0 Pie improvement list.

Formally unveiled back in February, the Nokia 7 Plus is likely to get a sequel (or two) soon, which will no doubt run Pie out the box. Who needs high-end phones when mid-rangers are offered such flawless software support?
