Nokia 3.1 Plus goes official with no-notch 6-inch screen, dual rear cameras, crazy low price
HMD Global is on a roll, both when it comes to software updates and product announcements, having barely released the Nokia 7.1, as well as the Nokia True Wireless and Pro Wireless earphones last week, before taking the wraps off the Nokia 3.1 Plus earlier today.

This follows in the footsteps of one of the company’s few smartphones officially available stateside, but for the time being, it’s only confirmed to hit India on October 19 at a killer price of Rs. 11,499 ($155).

There are a number of reasons to hope this “mega” handset will expand to the Western Hemisphere soon, starting with a huge 6-inch screen that, surprise, surprise, eschews the notch trend.

Nonetheless, the Nokia 3.1 Plus embraces the extra-tall 2:1 aspect ratio current, sporting symmetrically thin bezels (at least by budget-friendly standards), as well as a mediocre HD+ pixel count (most likely, 1440 x 720).

There’s truly no comparing the “regular” Nokia 3.1 with the newly unveiled Plus version, as the latter adds a second rear-facing camera, bumping the processor up from a MediaTek MT6750 to a Helio P22, and battery capacity from 2,990 to 3,500 mAh for up to two days of running time between charges.

Circling back to the “advanced photography” skills of the Nokia 3.1 Plus, we should probably mention the primary 13 MP Phase Detection Auto Focus shooter on the phone’s rear is paired with a 5MP depth sensor delivering “beautiful” Bokeh effects, while the 8MP front-facing camera boasts a wide-angle lens to “fit more in your selfies.”

The Nokia 3.1 Plus is the latest in a long line of Android One phones from HMD Global, promising a “pure, secure and up-to-date” Android Oreo experience (with a Pie update likely on the way).

The build quality is pretty impressive for this bad boy’s price bracket, combining aluminum and curved 2.5D glass, with an entry-level configuration offering just 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage space, which you can always upgrade to 3 and 32 gigs respectively.

Coated in blue, white, or “baltic”, the Nokia 3.1 Plus also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5 mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, but sadly, an age-old micro USB port. Still a good deal, though.
