'Final' iPhone 8 design leak depicts 4mm bezels, tips $1100 release price

It seems that there might be about 4mm bezel all around the 5.8" panel of the soapy-shaped iPhone 8, in order to keep the user from inadvertent edge presses. The cutout at the top middle of the panel will host the physical sensors and cameras that usually reside at the front, while the rest is an active OLED panel to show battery, network, and other info that's found at the very top segment of our screens. Notifications and switches will likely be moved in the bottom "function" area of the display, along with on-screen buttons of sorts...

"as you won't be able to pay your rent after you drop $1,100 - $1,200 on the phone." This looks like a personal attack, and trying to pick a fight... Considering that you absolutely have no clue on his financial status, and whether he's renting or owns a house already. Ridiculous.

Either way, that phone payment is way more than most renters and mortgage payments. So he is probably right! Its almost double what my mortgage is.

I was shocked when I saw the rent prices in SF: one buys 3 iPhones 8 with the rent paid for a month...

That's because San Francisco has the highest prices on most things, it's a well known fact.

The same goes for a lot of European cities: one buys not 3 iPhones but at least 1-2 for the price of 1 mo rent.

So your mortgage is ~$700 a month? My property taxes alone are nearly double that. If someone wants to drop $1000+ on their most used computing device, it's their prerogative.

Well if the iPhone 8 really looks like that, or at least nearly like that then I can say Apple is innovating again.

By copying the S8 look? This is what the S8 would look like if it was flatten. lol Copying is now innovating? Really? Come on man, you can do better...OH WAIT!

Similar to the S8 but I suspect the screen will still be flat with a rounded body. Anyway, where are they getting the screens?

Samsung is making the OLED panels. But they are not the Super AMOLED panels Samsung uses in its own phone. So I can't wait to see DisplayMate a reputable source comp[are the displays. Samsung has had the top displays since the S5. So lets see how this OLED only panel stacks up.

Samsung's OLED became great with the S6 but not with the S5. S5 had horrible color calibration.

Yet the Galaxy S5's Super AMOLED was named best display in 2014...http://tinyurl.com/yaz79aoh Just saying.

That is because the iPhone 6 wasn't released in April 2014.

Even back then you could do color calibration through software. Today you can pick different types of calibration in the settings. Lcd is dead. Even Apple knows this so move along man.

Google Pixel comes with S7 edge panel flattened, so Samsung does sell others actual SAMOLED panels

Everybody knows apple will follow the bezel less trend . And we also know samsung didn't innovated bezeless trend . Neither apple nor samsung was the first to implement a truly bezeless panel on a flagship . It was xiaomi . And from any angle it does looks like S8 . Don't be jealous . I know it's hard for you to digest that iphone looks gorgeous.

Mi mix is based on Sharp Aquos Crystal ( 2014).

When I say xiaomi mi mix some people always mention . This time I have to make it clear for once and forever . Sharp aqous didn't have the upper bezel but what about lower bezel . Sharp aqous was just and experiment . Was sharp aqous ceramic with 18k gold rims ,6gb of ram ,128 gb storage piezoelectric earpiece . Latest snapdragon chipset. Xiaomi put the best tech they had at that time . But can u say the same thing about sharp . Mi mix was a dream concept whereas sharp aqous was an experiment . I hope you will understand

Samsung and Apple aren't doing anything noteworthy this year. Everyone seems to be getting fooled by slimmer bezels and not much else...

Not everyone. Many of us realize neither Apple nor Samsung innovated slimmer bezels.

and even more don't particularly care for tiny bezels.

Uncurved S8...lol Still looks like the iPhone 7 with reduced bezels. What justifies $1100? How much is AR tech vs VR? Cost of an OLED display vs SAMOLED display? Other than the logo, I just want a price comparison of how much it costs Apple to make this new model vs what Samsung cost to make the S8's which was $300+

Be interesting to see what this whole AR/VR thing is. You have to take into account that the only VR an Apple user will have experienced is a google cardboard equivalent. So any improvement on that will be the 'Best VR experience on an iPhone ever!'
