Again I think these are FRAND patents. You cant patent something that is fair and reasonable. This is funny since one of the heads of Google said patent lawsuits hurt the business yet look at what's going on here.

You just refuse to look into it. Bad news, chum. Your constantly proclaiming the patents FRAND will not suddenly make them FRAND. They are not now, and will not be at the time of trial.

It is like you insist on stating the same tired old memes over and over and over and hope that somehow it will come true! Since the very first time you insisted these were FRAND it was revealed that these are in fact NOT FRAND! Yet you keep saying the same exact thing with every post. Next, Google said "Software Patents hurt business" and the reality is they do. Here is why lawyers and judges and juries are not equipped to look at code and tell you the difference between one operation and another. It would be impossible for them to do so. So they often rely on the output, what you see, not the actually mechanism by which it is achieved. Software patents because of this become overly vague. Detailing how a piece of software grabs information using algorithm X+X using C++ vs doing the same thing using DART, PYTHON, JAVA, BASIC or any other language is important. When you are allowed to have a patent that is so vague it essentially covers every single possible method of achieving an end result then that patent is hurting competition. Unlike hardware patents that often need diagrams showing how the patent will function. These patents actually require the use of specific technologies to achieve a set operation because of that it leaves competitors the ability to find another method to achieve the same result. In other words if you could patent hardware the same way you can patent software -- "A means by which a computer or other device powered by a CPU receives mechanical input" would cover every conceivable way to put data into a computer, netbook, laptop, gameboy, xbox, ps3, and so on. That is why software patents stifle competition because the patent system allows them to be so vague.

LOL You cannot patent FRAND patents. Are you listening to yourself as you type? It is already a patent! Once it is subject to FRAND you have to license it is all that comes from this. But I think it has been ruled these are not subject to FRAND.

To you anything non-apple is FRAND. Guess what? You still have to pay for them FRAND or not

why are you so ignorant i've seen your comments in a lot of articles and you are a lot biased and the apple don't even has a patent worth mentioning in the ongoing lawsuits

Mutually assured destruction. It kept the United States and U.S.S.R. from lobbing warheads at each other, and maybe it'll keep Apple and Android at peace. For a little while, anyway.

Apple sues about patents, everyone cries foul. Google sues about patents, everyone cheers. Hypocrites.

First strike is stupidity always, defending is a good thing.

If Apple weren't such a troll and suing over things that have little merit, then perhaps people wouldn't be cheering on Samsung. You don't make friends by trying to get ban devices because they might have the same shape as yours. Nor having an arrogant attitude about your patents being worth more than someone else's (i.e. $30-40 per devices vs .5 cents).

Wrong. Apple sues over stolen and ridiculous patents, everyone cries foul. Google defends its product, and may put an end to these lawsuits for a time, everyone cheers. The hypocrites are the Apple supporters who are now suddenly believing that asking for a ban based on patents is a jerk move.

google getting into the ring means we might finally see an end to this mess. THAT is why everyone is cheering. Its not a double standard its a "were sick of this. lets get to the championship apple vs google fight and get it over with".

Apple sues about patents after attempting to extort nearly 100% of the profits from a company. Motorola offered Apple a chance to license these patents, Apple refused to do so but still uses the patented technology. Please tell me you see the difference. Asking someone to pay $30 per phone for the use of the "rectangle with rounded edges" while being asked to pay a fair amount for use of someone else's patents and telling them to blow it out their asses it the only hypocrisy I see.

Yes because Apple stifles competition. They don't play nice in the sand box, you can play with the toys they brought or no toys. It's their party and they will cry if they want to. Well the spoiled little rich kid is going to learn the hard way not to be so selfish!

"Guy 1 tries to shoot Guy 2, everyone cries foul. Guy 2 tries to shoot back, everyone cheers" Pfffhh, Hypocrites.

58. Avinash.Meeniga unregistered

no it's not hypocrisy it's just that apple was suing over stupid patents and going dumb, dumber and dumbest with it's patents and lawsuits with time and Google is trying to stop it and put an end to it so that's why everyone are cheering

What needs to be done is the courts need to rule that certain generic smart phone attribues cannot be held as patents. Generic rectangular shape, basic wireless communication, onscreen keys, etc. No different than one automaker patenting a steering wheel and making all other automakers pay license fees. Letting a jury decide Samsung's/Apple's case against each other will set a precedent for future cases no matter who's favor the verdict is in.

hahaha^hahaha.... Come on Jay_F.. Apple will not allow their Iphoney ban, they will go crying to a Judge they pay off like MS did...but the those weasel, will give up this madness of suing others, I promise you that!

The hypocrisy lies in those who support Apple banning products based on patents, but cry foul when Google does the same. It's a common theme in movies, etc...when the bully finally gets his. People cheer openly in the theater. That's not hypocrisy, that's the satisfaction of seeing someone who lives by the sword dying by the sword.

I'm talking about the people on this site. It's amazing how appalled all the users get here when Apple makes any kind of move, but when the tables are turned onto Apple everybody starts cheering and loving lawsuits. They're all bulls**t, but people on this site only care about the demise of Apple, and what you don't realize, if Apple goes away, Android doesn't have to try anymore. Then you'll be sorry when your main competition is gone.
