NVIDIA SHIELD TV update brings voice chat support, companion app, loads more
NVIDIA is quite serious about the SHIELD TV, one of the few devices that it still supports with software updates. Early this week, the company announced that it has released the 20th software update since the launch of the NVIDIA SHIELD TV back in 2015.

The anniversary update brings a bucket-load of new features and improvements, as well as a brand new companion app. The latter is called NVIDIA SHIELD TV and features virtual keyboard and mouse support that's meant to prevent any login frustrations. The companion app is now available on Android and iOS via Google Play Store and App Store, respectively.

GeForce NOW beta is now available to everyone who owns an NVIDIA SHIELD TV, the game streaming service allowing users to play games from a PC on their consoles. Also, for those who play games like Fortnite and PUBG, NVIDIA added in-game voice chat support to make easier to communicate with your teammates. After updating to SHIELD Software Experience Upgrade 7.1, you'll be able to connect a headset and mic to the console's controller 3.5mm jack.

Improvements to the mouse have been added as well for more accurate movements, but keyboard shortcuts have been added too, along with a Keyboard and Mouse Games row on GeForce NOW, which are particularly useful in games like Dota 2 and CS: GO.

NVIDIA Share has been added once again after being removed from the SHIELD. The app allows players to capture screenshots, record game highlights and steam their gameplay to Twitch. The NVIDIA Share app can be enabled from the menu in System / Settings.
