MuscleNerd from iPhone Dev Team fame tweeted that a "very promising unlock" exploit for the Apple iPhone 4S has been found during his brain effort sessions over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The exploit is probably hardware-based, since he writes it's only for the iPhone 4S, not the iPhone 4, which is even better, since these holes are harder for Apple to plug with an iOS patch.
Hopefully we'll see the results of the Dev Team's efforts to unlock the 4S soon, and he also tweeted a command prompt snapshot, which might be related to the exploit. Definitely a better way to spend the holiday than fighting store crowds armed with pepper spray.
