Motorola notes disappointment in carrier delays, confirms Android L for Moto X

It has been confirmed, directly from Motorola, that the Moto X will be getting the Android L update. Admittedly, this one shouldn't really be a surprise for any of you out there who understand the new requirements Google has put in place for manufacturers to get access to the Google Apps suite and Google Play services...

Agreed Snig. While the moto X is a great phone, there is no point to buy it now. Motorola is getting ready to drop this years phones. Sidebar: Snig, where did you come up with the Moto Algebra (did I miss an article) or is it something that you came up with on your own?

Lol, I came up with the nickname Moto Algebra by myself, because "X+1" looks like a basic algebra equation. :D

i am dire need of a phone I lost my 720 so I don't have anything right now And yes the new moto would launch in a month but I doubt it will be available in my country right away(would probably be available in jan or march) the price is also a factor and in that range the moto X and nexus 5 are the best options

Ah. Well, the Moto X is just as likely to get the next major update after L as the Nexus is, since they're both around the same age and you likely won't see a 5.1 for at least 6 months after L is released.

Nightbaron, have you looked at the Motorola Moto G? It is a solid phone for the price.

yup its a solid phone but I really want to try out the moto X's touchless control, that is probably the only thing attracting me to it, IF I can't have the touchless control I would rather have something like a nexus with superb performance plus updates or ther is always the XIami mi3 (which is selling like hotcakes in India) which has a similar price point to the moto g but with flagship specs

Carrier unlocking is legal now. Bootloader and root are still a grey area.
