Motorola TRIUMPH is a cool Android handset for Virgin, with 4.1" screen and 1GHz CPU

0. phoneArena posted on 09 Jun 2011, 13:17

The crown for best handset on Virgin's PAYG network is now taken by the Motorola TRIUMPH, with 4.1" WVGA display, 5MP camera with flash and an HDMI-out port. These specs make the lack of Android 2.3 Gingerbread a minor nuisance...

coverage is very minimal and nothing compared to the other carriers

Absolutely correct... But I'm usually on WiFi, and the few times I do leave my comfy couch, I get enough coverage to do some texting and (slow) surfing. I'm very excited for this phone, I think it will be a great thing for VM.

And who can argue with UNLIMITED DATA/TEXTING for $25 a month?

it depends on where you live. vmobile uses the sprint network, which has excellent coverage on the east coast. true sprint is smaller than verizon & att, but you would never see them offering a phone like this with prepaid plans as low as $25.

@smalltank- WOW...LOL..are you serious? Don't be a hater because your overpaying on a 2 year contract! LOL. I was with T-mobile for 4 months and was paying $92.55..my service was horrible....call quality was bad..text messages wouldn't go through sometimes..and I couldn't upload pics to FB etc...so I canceled and went with Virgin Mobile on June 6th and I can tell you my coverage is awesome...texts are going through in 2 seconds, I'm ALWAYS connected to a 3G connection instead of a E(Edge) with T-mobile and the call quality is awesome! I LOVE VM and I'm only paying $40 a month!!! LOL

4.1 inch 480 by 800 display with a 1GHz processor was considered high end only about 6 months ago. So this is a great phone considering it's prepaid. If you have the coverage and don't want a contract but want a decent phone, go for this one. I am also happy to know it will be running stock android instead of motoblur. No offense but I would rather have stock android over any skin. If you want the widgets different layout then just download a launcher off the android market, most of them are free. However with a skin, it's still there and taking up space and memory.

If I ever get out of my contract and need to go prepaid. This would def be the phone to get.

It's awesome to finally see prepaid phones arent just limited to flip phones and tiny samsung keyboard sliders. The first android phone was really weak, 3 inch display, low res, slow processor, and android 1.6 I think?

Motorola really went beyond with this device, high specs, large display, hdmi, front facing camera. Hopefully we will see more prepaid phones like these in multiple prepaid carriers.

at&t, verizon, and vmobile (sprint's prepaid carrier) have had smart phones available with prepaid plans for a long time now. you can get the droid on verizon and the iphone on at&t with prepaid plans (though you pay full retail and have to deal with data caps)

This seems to be a very nice phone. I've googled it and seen videos of how it works. Hopefully this phone won't be over $300. I called VM and they didn't give me much information about it. I'm currently on the T-mobile network and have been a customer for 9 yrs. The company was GREAT at first but now the service is bad. I can't wait to switch to VM which is on the sprint network. Great service & phone for an affordable price. Thanks VM

An update since I see the last post was on June 20th, the Triumph is debuting on Virgin prepaid on July 19, 2011. It will retail for $300.

Virgin is also changing its plan pricing available for this phone. So if you want to lock in the old rates, do so before July 19.

Beyond Talk $40 (unlimited web, text) 1200 talk minutes - Going up to $45 monthly.

Beyond Talk $60 (unlimited everything) - Going DOWN in price to $55 monthly.

Of course, being prepaid there's no contracts.

Like Felicia... I have been with T-Mobile for a long time (2003). I have paid them about $22,000 over the years, for two lines. However, I too noticed the significant decline of T-Mobile's customer service, which used to be the reason I stuck it out with T-Mobile.

Having been a victim of incompetence, negligence, vindictiveness, and unprofessional behavior as soon as Virgin got this phone (I bought one on eBay for $300, $9 shipping) and Metro PCS got the Samsung Indulge, I just today canceled my T-Mobile accounts.

My GF and I will be trying out both Virgin and Metro PCS, to see which carrier we prefer. Really looking forward to getting this phone in the mail.
