Motorola DROID Turbo hands-on

The tides may be turning yet again with the upcoming Motorola DROID Turbo, which is shaping to be one of the beefiest, baddest, and long lasting smartphones out there. Even without touching the phone, the specs sheet already have us drooling with its 5.2-inch quad-HD screen, 21-megapix

Well done moto. What would have made it perfect for me is if they managed to put this all in a 4.7" package.

It's called, get last years DROID Mini, Moto X or iPhone or, OR..... adjust to a larger phone. 4.7" displays are as in style as physical keyboards.

Awesome phone, the big question is - is it a Verizon exclusive? Will there be an international version??

I think the Droid Turbo will be the exclusive for Verizon as most of the Droid brands are. It might make a seperate one that offers close to the same specs for other carriers. Verizon has a bind on the Droid name and doubt they would let other carriers use it for real.

Yeah it's sexy! My only issue is that it's too small. Then Motorola Nexus 6 for me all the way, also the front facing stereo speakers are an awesome feature missing from the Motorola Droid Turbo.

Thanks for not complaining that this should be smaller.

Since when is a 5.2" display considered too small? It has a QHD display to boot. Its awesome.

Not everyone has the same preferences. I've had phones that are least 5.5" for 2 years now. I couldn't go back to 5.2".

"It should be noted, however, that this hardware is based on 64-bit architecture." Typo? Shouldn't it be isn't instead of is?

I actually like the look of the black 64gb one in the hands on pics.

The phone doesn't look nearly as bad as i thought in the pics that came out last week. I think its 64GB for me. In need of an upgrade. Nice Moto. Very nice.

Decent specs, back looks cool, front looks ugly, and UI looks fugly.

I'm really considering getting this phone, but the front really does look awful. Going from a G2 with no bezels to this just doesn't feel right...

Nice phone. QHD display is just a gimmick in that screen size. FullHD is enough for 5".

I was going to agree until I saw that it's an amoled screen. I honestly think QHD does make a difference in this case because of how amoled uses subpixels. If it were IPS like my G2, I'd rather it be 1080P, because the resolution is perfect for the G2, which is a 5.2" screen like this.

Man nothing impressive, but battery life. Nexus 6 is still the one to get. KitKat is old. Why no Lollipop? The OS is still the same as last years.

Lollipop just got announced 2 weeks ago, did you really expect them to have a build ready for release? I wouldn't expect any updates from Motorola until at least mid-November.

Um..not impressive? It has the best screen, top-notch camera, and the best process out there. Not to mention the best battery. How is that not impressive?

Because its exclusive to verizon only. Thats why its not impressive. I'll passon verizon and wait for sony's next release.

FCC filings point to a non Verizon version of this phone. Around a week after this went through the FCC, an almost identical phone went through, but carrying GSM bands. BTW, good call on the HTC Nexus phone ;) Sorry, had to do it.

Killer specs. Cool backing material. Ugly phone :( I would have liked it to have the curve of the Moto X with the new materials and old dimple = perfect Motorola (minus the ugly chin)
