What's your point? Unlike Sammy-IM, Sammy Semiconductor isn't a competitor to Apple. And Sammy-IM isn't a match for Apple anyway.

BobbyBuster the real cartoon character on the block who thinks Apple is the king.

This PottyBuster is back with his silly points and logics. Although i have noticed that hardcore Apple fans are very arrogant. They only argue and bark with their silly points and no one really listens...

What are you on about Samsung is 50/50 on hi end phones with Apple. Samsung makes also loads of cash from Apple from other parts of there busness Samsung only as problems with the low end due to China crap I.e. Apple just makes Samsung $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ And cost Samsung nothing It's only Apple that takes damage from Samsung and not the other way

That's a story with a closed chapter. With Steve Jobs gone, and Samsung largely doing their own thing in the design realm, the feelings have quite clearly simmered. There hasn't been a bad blood article regarding the two of them in ages, and the ages old trial initiated under Steve Jobs doesn't count.

Apple cries foul, has a tantrum, goes elsewhere for mediocre hardware - but in the end they know who their daddy is...

I'm guessing this is a very lucrative business. I know I wouldn't be providing my competitor with shyt unless it made me enough money to make up for the fact that they are a competitor.

I dunno, do the math. Apple will sell between 150-250M iOS based devices this year alone. Considering Samsung makes the chips for all of Apple's mobile device on some level an assuming each chip is costing Samsung only dollars to make and they are likely charging Apple $25 to $50 each; do the math. Also, Samsung makes the internal storage for iOS devices so that's another source of income. Apple is paying Samsung the R&D money they use to make better stuff so that every OEM starts using them. Even Qualcomm is using Samsung which is going to mean even more money. I would guess that Samsung makes at least $500M from Apple per year alone. So yeah, at least 1/2 Billion is certainly worth it. Which is why I am angered Appel sued them for no reason whatsoever. I am so glad Samsung has yet to need to pay one penny. In fact Apple should just drop it, because they will be paying the money if Samsung even needs to ever pay; right back to them to make their stuff. if it wasn't for Samsung the iPhone couldn't even be produced in enough quantities because TSMC would be a complete bottleneck and Apple has no other option but Samsung. Like it or not, Apple is kissing Samsung's @$$ and Apple needs Samsung or they will lose a significant amount of money if they can't get product to market. Apple is lucky Samsung didn't just say, since you sued us, we will refuse to sign anymore contarcst with you. This would have put Apple in a huge bind, because with TSMC only making amybe 20% of the chips for Apple, if Apple had to depend on them, Apple would liekly only get a couple million devices to market per month which means users would choose other options which likely would be Samsung because they offer the best alternative to an iPhone and Samsung would sell an additional 100M devices with Apple out the way. They would certainly make more money selling more phones vs making chips and that's a fact. Apple is lucky to have Samsung as a partner PERIOD.

Meh not really. Apple ain't kissing Samsung's arse, they need each otehr. Apple is Samsung's biggest customer and without them, they would lose like a couple of bucks until another company signs a contract with them. For Apple's case. There just isn't any manufacturer to cope up with demands. TSMC's case proved that so they need Samsung to help manufacture. Again, manufacturing is different from designing.

Apple is Samsung's biggest customer? WTF? no way.. Samsung is its own biggest customer - they use more chips and memory in their own devices, including TV's, tablets, fridges, freezers, etc, etc, than Apple put together. I would very much guess that Apple has a discounted pricing structure which will account for what they owe Apple in the courts..

So your saying TSMC would expand to meet Apple demand if Samsung stop business with them? TSMC seemed to do just find with the Iphone 6 and 6Plus helping Apple achieve Record sells, and no doubt if apple continued to move away from Samsung, TSMC would continued to expand to meet the demands of apple.

Problem with TSMC is yields and old tech. By the time TSMC catches up to Samsung 14um tech, Samsung will be on 10um.. Even Qualcomm have ditched them because of 40%+ yield losses on their snapdragon processors..

Actually by the news and rumors TSMC is skipping 14 and leaping ahead to 10 nm.

TSMC is skipping 14 and leaping ahead to 10 nm ahead of samsung.. something samsung did before and something TSMC can do, its a very common practice to leaping ahead in chip making.

Nope that was bad reporting, they was just doing ther normal tests and there lead time is longer than Samsung, so nope they not moving on faster they can not even do 16nm and you think they can do 10nm dream on

Its possible because Samsung did it and so has TSMC.

iPhone = Rebranded Galaxy S. Samsung makes the Soc, the RAM and some other things too inside the iPhone. I wish Apple would start using their batteries too, since Samsung seems to know how to get high capacities into a smaller space.

I guess the same could be said about the entire OS Samsung is using too, huh? Which, btw is the bread and butter of Samsung devices.

Do you have any idea how different both OS are? Some feature might be (I don't know any though), yes. But OS is neither copy of ios nor made by Samsung.

I don't think he was referring to iOS. What I think he was saying is, Android is what has help Samsung be what it is. I agree to a point. However Android means nothing if you use terrible hardware. The reason Samsung is the largest single seller of Android devices is because they use to of the lien components and they make awesome phones. The Galaxy S and Note combined sell over 150M devices every year since 2011 and that number is going up. Samsung sells over 300M phone per year since 2011 and 95% of them run Android. But they all could easy run Tizen. All Samsung would have to do is strike a deal with devs to insure apps made for Android get ported to Tizen. Android would right away start to lose sales and lose marketshare. Since Samsung makes and sells more phones than Apple, they could easily become king. Google would be in second place because Sony and LG and Moto just can't compete with Samsung on equal footing. Because Samsung makes nearly 100% of their phone from design to production. While all the other guys need 3rd parties. This is a significant advantage no other OEM has, not even Sony. If Samsung could strike a deal with devs to where at the beginning they would have devs get 90% of the take at the beginning and then Samsung gets 30% later, and they grow the farm Google would be in trouble because Samsung would still have nearly all its Samsung users follow, which is still nearly 2x times the sells of Apple and the other Android OEM would still be in the same shape. It's just my opinion though.

I can't help but say how wrong this comment is on so many levels. Stop praising Samsung as a God.

Samsung doesn't need Android, they have an OS they could use. The thing is, Google has already created the market. If it wasn't for Samsung, Android would be a complete failure, because all the OEM's combined almost dont even sell as much product as Samsung. I mean what was the last number? Wasn't Samsung like 35%-45% of all Android sales? Tizen is a very good OS. In fact it has some huge pluses above Android. For one, its looks and features don't require a TouchWiz layer, its in the OS like Windows and iOS. Tizen has better hardware access and thus with Samsung's hardware would be a huge champ in benchmarks and usage tests. If Google was to push Samsung off of Android, it would hurt Google quite a bit because Samsung wouldn't have to start from the drawing board. All they would do is put Tizen on more devices and get devs to port apps which is fairly easy. But your point I do agree on some level, Samsung is certainly doign well thansk to Google. But Samsung doesn't need Google. Google has already help Samsung get popular. Samsung is big enough to where they have option. Push comes to shove, they could put Windows onto their phones as well and help run Google down in marketshare. Most people dont care what OS is on their phones, the success of a platform is developer support for the OS in providing the apps people want. Tizen is just another NIX based OS and Android apps can easily be ported in minutes. In fact Samsung could just hire their own team to port the apps over and work out some deal with the devs who made them.

I do agree to somethings. Tizen if developed little more would be good os and can give much better performance than android on same hardware. But what I think of android is a free OS (by free I mean freedom you get). You can modify OS, custom ROMs, root your device, add new themes, change looks and options to select among devices with different hardware (screen, SOC etc) which are pretty similar OS wise. Also the competition that makes samsung do more. If there's none beside Apple samsung wouldn't do much.
