I sooooo wanted to be a WeBOS fan boy. I would have been glad to get all the thumbs downs for being blind to it's problems and trolling other threads, picking fights, taking names, making up my own stats to back up my made up arguments. Oh, well. Lost opportunity. Every OS can stand on it's own, but the market exploded and what was hot continues to be the front runners. I think the future holds room for a couple of market specific OS's (Like Blackberry with Buisness, a smaller OS catching on in a certain region of the world, maybe an OS that caters to just a high end segment of the populace) but overall, if there is to be a solid third or maybe fourth OS for general consumers they had better make the mark soon. Unless Apple or Google turn dumb, between 50% - 60% of the market seems to be spoken for. There is only so much growth left in the mobile market. Then it will be a little late to make an impact.

Samsung app store 40,000 apps? For Bada the Wave I or II there are 6900 apps in the store, over 3000 of those are themes, and a large proportion of the rest are duplicates and useless. The scarcity in decent apps for Bada is killing the OS.

Looking at that Piper-Jaffrey graph shown under "The Field" portion, I'm wondering why it predicts Android to have such a drop in market-share after 2012. Any specific reasons?

oh, i had my colors mixed up when looking at that graph. This graph is from that silly article about how Google would start using Motorola as an exclusive provider of Android and kill the ecosystem, leading to "other" (aka WP7) taking over the market. I should find a better graph showing Symbian dying...

I have 2 agree with tha article. Its all personal preference. Although I'm pro Android I still think tha iPhone's r good smartphones as well. But since I like customization, Android suits me better. So in tha end its all about user preference. Sn: all tha other OS's have alot of catching up 2 do. Jus sayin...

Micheal H, I got three words for you: YOU DA MAN! I can't remember the last time I've read an interesting article in awhile... Nicely done, prepared and excecuted!! I'll be anxiously awaiting for part 2, that's for sure!! I really hope Windows phone will be a threat to android and iOS one day, but from the looks of it, it looks promising.. No hate on iOS or android, but windows phone sure looks legit. Hope it turns out great. Burt

This is awkward because now you are all gonna try and get recognised to have your names mentioned in the follow up.

That should keep PhoneArena peaceful in the meantime ;)

Or not. This entire article was about keeping the peace and understanding the differences between opinion and facts, and we just had a 4 page war over the definition of a smartphone. I laughed the whole time I was reading at the irony of it. Micheal must be shaking his head in wonder....

ok, this thread is still going strong. mostly its taco arguing over nothing, but still that counts. lets hit 300 posts!! lol. When was the last time that happened? Heck, whats the record for posts around here anyways? lets bust it! lol

I think once the so called Miz starts to comment on this article we might see this article hit 400 comments. . .

IDK if taco will have much more to say on this article, remix. I challenged him to prove he is NOT a liar and he's been quite ever since. But I think we could still do it without him.

lol, just like i asked him why he calls me a fanboy whenever i disagree with him, but pretends i dont comment when i do. he may not be as much of a jerk as he once was, but hes still a one sided ibot.. lol

I think the comment record will be broken on October 4th when a massive article is written about the iPhone 4S/5/both. That should gross over 600 comments probably more.

comments of us laughing at the measily 4s upgrade, or the diehard ibots screaming that its "Teh bezt fonz eva!", or people in the middle mad because they were expecting something more.. yea lets go for it! lol

PA needs to impliment a "see only new replies" button in the threads.. especially for when they get this big!! lol.

there is the chronological view, which helps a lot. but, i have suggested to the editors that we automatically collapse long reply threads, because they are often arguments and people should have the choice of whether to dive into those. on this post there's no reason why the 300+ posts should take up 12 pages. if those taco/WEM threads were collapsed (because i'm sure not many people other than you and me dare read through those) we'd be able to get to more relevant comments easier.

lol true.. im sure most people skip a few pages to get right past it. there needs to be some way of sorting it thats for sure, some of these threads get monsterous. a see only new replies would be great as it would only show what has happened since the last time you visited the page, and not everything thats come before it, so in a case like this where there is 200+posts and 1 new reply, it would only show that 1 reply. much easier! :)

At the start on the comments there's a way to list comments chronologically. It's the best way I've found of easily seeing new posts
