Smart move by Microsoft. This will definitely aid prospective Lumia 950 buyers, as well as prospective Windows Phone buyers in general, in making their choice.

When i first bought a lumia phone last year,i found it Very difficult to find some substitute apps for android. For example i really Didnt Find a good music player. And a lot of games are missing. Filemanager is so basic. Internet explorer doesnt have a download player. I thought it was the worst OS ever. But one thing to tell, i loved the camera app.it was awesome.and also the office package. Donot buy a lumia unless you use it for calling and whatsapp. Even the whatsapp had a very old version than andeoid. i really dont feel windows phone faster even. I found the windows phone to lag too Just like android.

The Windows version of whatsapp was terrible and drained my battery when I was using the HTC 8x. I haven't used it since but I am assuming the windows version of whatsapp is probably even more outdated now.

Seems, rightfully so, that you were using WP 8 when you tried WP out. Fortunately, most of what you mentioned has been significantly improved in Windows Mobile 10. Although there were some good music players in 8.1, it's better in WM10 now with apps like Groove, which also allows you to stream music directly from files you have stored on OneDrive. File manager is pretty robust now, with full USB OTG access on the new USB-C devices. Games and other apps are what they are. There's definitely a lot of stuff out there, but obviously not like what you will find on Android and iOS. The overall app situation isn't what is going to attract you if you are coming from Android or iOS, but the OS is far better than the sum of its parts. Whereas Android and iOS are both essentially a collection of apps thrown together, WP has a better overall user experience in my opinion. I moved to a Note 5 because Verizon isn't getting the new Lumias; I like the app quality but miss the more enjoyable OS.

On a side note, all we need is a basic file manager. There could be situations where more is needed, but with sd support it's imo not needed since you can create your own folder tree Good music player is subjective, been using xbox music since it allows me to stream my years and years of collection that I had on my old windows media player. Now does it through grove I would agree on games. However, my work around is using my 8in tablet for that. Not android, but a bluestacked windows tablet. Works very well. Cost me like 150, my phone was used but even new like say the 950xl, I will get more of what I like with my two devices for nearly same cost as I would with another android device.

Wow--really bad app. It doesn't show what you need to know--the apps it can't match. I suspect there's a reason for that--it didn't match any of my banking apps for example.
