Microsoft/Nokia deal could be finalized soon

Microsoft agreed to purchase Nokia's Devices and Services business back in September, and has been working its way through various regulatory systems on the way to finalizing the deal. Yesterday, Nokia sent out a notice that it would be reporting its Q4 2013 earnings next week on January 23rd; and, the notice makes it sound like the Microsoft deal will be finalized soon...

Yes❕.. Although I'm a little worried that Lumia devices might vere off course slightly, I have faith that the collaboration between the WP team, and Nokia team, will carry on business as usual.. If anything this will help the new "WP" hardware team make us even better devices, and get the ball moving faster on software updates... I have extremely high hopes, and its just been good news for fans of Lumia devices who love the WP OS.. I can't wait to see what 2014 brings with newly Lumia branded devices, and the new WP8.1 OS, and the periodic updates that are to make it even better... 2014 is going to be a great year.

Yeah, as long as the Google purchase of Motorola took (wasn't it over a year?), this has moved ahead real quick. China's only concerns revolves around the major factories Nokia runs in China and their worries about Microsoft patent hoarding. Once these two complaints have been dealt with, the purchase will go through. I am a tad worried about losing the Nokia quality. But I am also a tad excited. Be also nice if this actually paves the way for other OEMs to take WP a little more serious, as maybe MS will be more then willing to share these Nokia tools and apps with them. Hey, one can hope, right?

I wouldn't make the mistake of hoping for Microsoft to be so magnanimous.

Agreed. I said in another post people are whining cause they want a Nokia device & not a MS platform. But give it time Nokia will make for other platforms eventually. (Normandy anyone). All the platforms will eventually share. Its Ego time & patent wars right now that's all.

MS too rich Such dumb comments here. SOFTBANK just nabbed 78% of SPRINT & is now trying to get the 67% of T-Mobile which is still owned by DT. Verizon just brought itself back from Voda. Apple is buying everything in it path & ATT is everywhere hahaha You people are actually worried about MICROSOFT & NOKIA & wish to stop it. If your an American citizen you should be hailing it. Patriotism!!! My country tis of the hahahaha..... Who really gives a crap so long as they continue to put good products out US, China, Finish, Korea, German Buy stock in all of them. My family has Windows / Phone, Apple & Android devices They all work just fine. Everything has a place.

Actually that's what my point is.. Everyone quite worrying about the politics.. lol.. Funny. The majority of the guys who present all these facts, and corporate statistics, are probably doing so while standing at the grill flipping burgers at McDonalds.... Quit trying to sound like financial analyst when you know you're not, people❕

One question for Microsoft Will you consider to bring down the price for Lumia 1020 in my country (Cambodia)? It costs USD 70 more expensive than the iphone 5S now. For me personally, i love taking picture so the Lumia 1020 is absolutely a perfect device for me but i can't afford to get it at the moment. It is from USD 750 to USD 770 depends on retailer. I know that some country it costs more expensive than this but i think it's very expensive for most Cambodian people. Regards, From Angkor Wat Temple, Siem Reap Province, Camodia

It might help you more if you went to the official Windows Phone Blog, and said all this there... The guys on the WP team really do read all of the comments.. Feel free to bitch as much as you like about WP as well... Lol❕

I could care less about what makes you laugh.. You can't be taken seriously.. Uneducated, immature, and self conscious people like you are sad, and I hope you figure out why you've never been able to have any real, human, friends... I'm not going to be your friend, dude... Sorry.... Don't give a damn about what you do, or don't, like.. You're wasting your time, kid..

Frankly I want the Nokia/Microsoft deal to hurry up and get done and for Microsoft to have their NEW CEO installed. All this should be done within 90 days. that way we all will see where Microsoft is going with it's mobile Smartphone/Tablet devices. I still think Windows RT has a place for ebook/entertainment tablets and still think 8 lnch screen windows 8.1 tablets are the ones that will put a lot of windows 8.1 tablets into the hands of a lot of People because they do not cost an arm and an leg to buy
