Microsoft still unsure how to name its mobile devices

While Microsoft has decided to name the Nokia Devices and Services division Microsoft Mobile Oy, it will not be using the name as a brand on Lumia phones and tablets, and on Asha phones as well. Microsoft has licensed the Nokia name for ten years as part of the deal, which allows Microsoft to continue to sell current Nokia Lumia models without having to change the name of the devices...

If they didn't use Nokia name then their money on this will be waste. They should keep Nokia name and back side below write "by Microsoft"

Agreed, but they can just put the Microsoft name at the booting screen.

Start calling it the Lumia 4 / Lumia 4 Camera / Lumia 4 Basic / Lumia 4 Pro / Etc. along with the Surface 4 and Surface Pro 4 next year. Simple to the point.

Better looking , more fluid and stable ... why buy an android ?

Better looking....opinion... More fluid....I will give you that...but....being more fluid didnt help Apple and it isnt helping WP. And that gap has shrunk with each release of Android. Stable....lets look at some examples of that: Windows Vista Win ME Early versions of Android. None of these things really exist for current users anymore. Meanwhile XP just had support ended for it this month. If Android was as unstable as some made it to be.....it wouldnt be gaining market share year after year. And please dont use the cheap argument...because there are plenty of cheap WP phones out now. That are .....like you say...better looking, fluid, stable. No one really wants WP right now....maybe that will change in the near future. What you say and what the general public want seem to be 2 different things.

Better looking while an opinion counts, he did not ask for tech specs he ask simply why. Stable: Examples, sure third note 3, still crashes weekly, yesterday crashed during polaris and netflix usage. I could state more but that would take way to much space. Win Me? Really 2000 year desktop OS vs a 2008 mobile OS? Android is popular cause at the time other smartphone os's did not offer what Apple did, Droid was a good alternative, and still is even with its flaws. It got the app market and hit the boat with Apple as the smartphone OS. You cannot say 'no one' because millions would say other wise. Do they have the same market share? No, by along shot

I didnt give tech specs... As for your Note.....I could also mention how my RAZR, Moto G, Maxx HD never had to be replaced because of crashes. My Droid X....had an issue with the FM radio and crashing....thats about it....I could have replaced it but didnt. I also gave some examples of things that really were unstable.....along with an example of something thats stable...was easier to go to the desktop side for that. I will agree about no one....you are right. Because bottom line....whatever market share WP has....BB would love to have it right now...

Windows phone has nothing in common with desktop windows OS. Its only called windows phone because Microsoft is not very creative with naming their products.

Simply, people want to try something new and return the phone back to the store on next day.

Just keep it Lumia , and simplify the numbering...

They should keep the names "Nokia" and "Lumia". The Nokia name still holds weight, especially in the emerging markets. If they change it, it could possibly cause a problem when attempting to sell the units.

The image shown at the top of the article is what is wanted. Get rid of Nokia X because it is not fully Android and will spoil both Microsoft and Nokia name. Keep Asha going but try to make a $100 Windows Phone (maybe using MediaTek) to replace it . The point is to get everybody on Windows Phone bandwagon without spoiling either Microsoft or Nokia brands.
