Stephen FLOP is a beast! I see Nokia disappearing on the horizon. I really hate Microsoft too but I don't blame them. Business is business!

Nokia hasn't been great for more than a decade now. If it was that good it wouldn' t have failed...

For a company that led the phone manufacturing business over 14 years, it is absolutely a legend. The problem was the distructive management. If you let the trojan horse Elop to guide a folck of lions, it would be definitely beaten by sheeps.

Not just Elop. also the management before him was bad to Nokia. Just saying

I feel sorry for the employee's but thank god Microsoft finally realized they don't need lumia name when the surface brand stands as the best brand. Surface phone will be the best while nokia was just a stepping stone.

Microsoft could have made an x86 smartphone at any point in time. However the problem comes with Microsoft's WP ecosystem. The problem lies with the actual apps, because developers compiled and optimized their apps to work on WP Arm hardware. The WP apps don't work on x86 hardware. That is why Microsoft can't make a Surface Phone until they get more apps. Why do you think Microsoft came up with a new way to make and run apps that is agnostic (similar to Androids VM). Microsoft's version is called Universal apps. Even Apple is doing a similar thing with their Swift language and runtime.

Microsoft doesn't own Nokia brand name. Elop & Balmer together ruined Nokia. If Nokia had made timely switch to Android...

I don't think it was a good decision, but Nokia had and has patents that are very useful for the mobile market.

There's no room for another smartphone OS. Instead of making another generic smartphone, they should create a pro-phone with capabilities of a Surface Pro.

Microsoft always thought they were as popular than Apple, and buying Nokia would make them more popular, but windows was not right for Nokia,as Nokia phones were very popular using symbian as you could customize these phone, but Windows offered nothing like this and the Tiles on Windows make these phones very unpopular, hope Nokia comeback soon with Android

Microsoft's CEO Nadella is duty bound to keep Microsoft's profits as high as possible. therefore these RUMORS could be true. I predict that Microsoft will retire the Nokia "Lumia" brand of smart phones to be replaced by the "Surface" Brand in spring 2017 Microsoft will cut out all Lumia related jobs Manufacturing, sales department an ect. It will keep Nokia design engineers ect to work with MS Devices VP Mr Panos and his Surface Engineering team to make Windows smart phones. the Feature phone Business from Nokia came from the Purchase of NOKIA Phones assets Microsoft got but never really was into. Microsoft no Longer NEEDS the rights to use the Nokia brand name anymore since The Surface brand name will be what it will support for it's new smart phones.Microsoft will finally cut away from Nokia Lumia's and Nokia's brand name. it's on it's OWN NOW
