0. phoneArena posted on 08 Oct 2012, 02:45

Is Microsoft really going to release a WP8 handset under its own brand? Stephen Elop says "no", yet rumors in favor of the opposite are starting to pile up. This so-called "Surface Phone" supposedly belongs to the high-end category, and if all goes as planned, we might see it hit the shelves in only a few months from now. The latest evidence suggesting that Microsoft might launch its own Windows Phone 8 smartphone was spotted in the usage logs of an app called...

It will be a big big failure if Microsoft doesn't develop it with the help of Nokia.

Nokia is already a defacto Phone HW manufacturing unti ot M$. M$ is banking on only on their corporate userbase for success with anything that they do as to make a dent in other segment is a difficult task.

Maybe a big fail for Nokia. Nokia bet the farm on WP. If MS releases their own WP phone, that is a pretty big slap in the face for Nokia.

It is looking like MS let Nokia do the heavy lifting on keeping WP relevant until WP had matured sufficiently. Nothing like being used as a stalking horse.... Elop must be wanting to have a drink of poison about now.

Totally agree. That strategy totally matches with evilish MS. And don't worry about Mr.Elop, after all MS is there to offer him job when Nokia collapses.

Conspiracy theories, sometimes they're exciting and informative and other times just plain stupid.

Mission complete!. "Microsoft's campaign for destroying NOKIA". Symbian is dead, Meego is dead, Qt is no more with Nokia and finally Nokia will be dead soon.

Late Steve Jobs- Was the best CEO for innovation.

Steven Elop- The best CEO for destruction.

Maybe, but Nokia has 30000+ wireless patents, the Navteq technology and makes a pretty tight product. My money says Google is just waiting to pounce. What a slam dunk it would be for Google it they acquired Nokia. Just imagine, they could start collecting mega royalities from MS and Apple with those patents and end all litigation against Android. Having Navteq would end any ambitions of Apple or Bing maps.

Microsoft would purchase Nokia before anyone else would be even given a chance.

Its a smart move by MS. Forward integration into the handset game is just natural.
But I am sure it'll be a sweet phone

If that’s true then possibility of seeing [ Nokia + Android] is not so far away..
[ Nokia + Android + Purview] => R.I.P [ APPLE + SAMSUNG + MS Surface ]

I hope MS makes the surface phone and Nokia drops wp and adopts Android. As I'm sick and beyond annoyed of the disgruntled Nokia/Android fanbase. Nokia can take pureview and shove it in Androids Ass!!!! And folks do you remember earlier this year MS on hiring rampage? Part of the hire was for photo specialist. Surface phone, surface=quality. Bye bye purview. I would thank God if Nokia gone from WP!! Come on surface phone so we can get rid of Nokia!!

Android needs a hefty amount of tweaking to run PureView, at least in terms of the class of camera as found in the 808. It also needs to slim down, even more than what was done for JellyBean. Otherwise it won't pass Nokia's OCD-like obsession with quality. Hence a reason they went with WP. Is an Android Nokia possible? Sure, maybe, someday, perhaps, but if WP gains the traction and market share it is projected to, Nokia won't have to.

i really want microsoft to make a surface phone!

and make the first WP to have quadcore!

just one phone! inspired by its surface line of tablet!

and market almost same like iPhone!

and they should do it every year! they should be the first of everything new in WP ecosystem like the nexus on google!
