Microsoft infographic emphasizes low-light photography on Nokia Lumia 928

0. phoneArena posted on 29 May 2013, 03:54

You have to hand it to Microsoft; you can throw out all of that Smoked by Windows Phone stuff that never really brought in business to the platform. But in just the last few weeks, Microsoft caught on to the idea that low-light photography is one thing that the high-end Nokia Lumia models do very well. So it stood aside like a proud father as the Finish based manufacturer launched the Nokia Lumia 928...

Sunset on the S4

Indoors day

Indoors artificial lights

Indoors low light

Night vs. Lumia vs. DSLR

Looks pretty good to me based on the Microsoft chart. Sry do not have UFO sample.

I'm not bashing I'm just saying please stop focusing on the camera! I don't think I've ever taken a low light picture before! Just focus on something else not something vaguely useless...

Looks like Nokia is saving Microsoft's face. The deal with Nokia was probably the best bussiness decision by Microsoft. MS is taking more from Nokia than they are giving back.
I really wonder if MS even has a team to develop the WP8 platform anymore, or they are sleeping, or they are turning a blind eye to user requests for some basic features.

I guess you haven't heard about Windows "Blue", aka 8.1, which will have improved features and UX for both WP and desktop Windows.

Boooooooooorrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinngggggggg. Credit for the low-light performance, but that was a little tired marketing by Christmas last year and they are still on it. Now my next phone might be the Windows-powered Lumia EOS, but not because of the tired ads.

Important, they don't have anything else to focus on, cause MS said: You will have, what we give you!

Nokia, Wp8 fanboys are in so much anger, waiting for Android, iOs feautres to be available, but we need to wait a very Looooooooooooooooong time. LMFAO! What a pathetic OS, and Nokia the connecting people brand, company have and loves old outdated specs on there devices. Our aim is to provide standard hardware and software, but be restassured you will love our cameras: as any gives a toss: we want tech and the latest what competition brings. But no.

And Sony! You forget Sony! Lol

Yeah L928 takes great low light pictures, thanks to its xenon flash but you seem to forget that, before all, it's a smartphone not a specialised low light camera shooter!
So what about multimedia, gaming performance, overall photography, multitasking, flexibility etc? Who's going to kiss whose ass now?

I'm not going to thumb you down, because I'm not a troll.

I just don't think that this phone is worth all of the Second Coming style coverage it's been getting.

In fairness to its advertising presence, this is the nicest Windows Phone for verizon to date. The rest of the lineup is fairly stale, excepting the S4, which will sell without advertising. Plus with T-Mobile getting the Lumia 925, which, excepting the Xenon flash (and supposed lower storage) is superior (if you're OK with the body not being entirely polycarbonate, of which I'm of two minds) in just about every way, so they have to make sure to make their presence known as THE carrier for Windows Phone (for now).
With that in mind, the currently-running "Wedding" ad does spotlight the Lumia 920, in seeming contrast to the 928, so what do I know?

Yay, woohoo, awesome. Yay.

Christ almighty, Phonearena, could you maybe shut up about the Lumia 928? Every day I see a new article about it and its low light camera, and you keep pushing articles about it near the top of the page. It's actually tricked me into thinking you haven't been updating as frequently, because I've seen the same damn articles near the top of the page.

At this point I almost suspect you're being paid to advertise the damn phone. I get it, it's a nice phone, but it's no more deserving of being shoved to the top of the page all the time any more than the other nice phones out there. Like the One, which ALSO, amazingly, does great with low light pictures.

Nokia = great Cameras no doubt ( with the exception of the HTC one). I Give Nokia all props but again this really isn't about just the camera but the over all device it is first and foremost a smartphone. Here MS is not really working as hard a Nokia in my opinion. Nokia is doing an outstanding Job on the Hardware But MS is just dragging to much on the software side. If sales don't spike and catch fire to a respectable level then Elop will be forced out and Nokia will also produce Android phones ( what's wrong with producing multiple products? Samsung, HTC, Sony and others make windows phones along with their Android offerings).

What a shocker! Nokia still focusing on the camera. Is there any navigation on it? Is there a web browser? Can I play any games on it? Can this "phone" can do anything else other than take great pictures in the dark, when I rarely take pictures. For goodness sakes, give us some other reason... ANY other reason why I should buy this phone!

For the fanboys, relax. Not one bad word about the phone or the OS. I'm asking THEM (Nokia/M$, because they are one company at this point) to show me more.

There's not a whole lot else for Nokia/MS to crow about. Everything else about the phone is pretty standard. It's a midsize HD screen. It has a decent browser. And Nokia Maps are pretty good. And it multitasks. Yeah, there's an app store, but don't ask us how good it is. It's a tough market...what else can they say? "It's boxy and it can stand up on end"?
