Yes! Good to see the temporary one become permanent in Saint Louis. Hope they get one at West County, South County, and Chesterfield, too, just to avoid the entire "oh you have to go to X factory store at a place that in inconveniently located or always busy"

Apple retail stores serve many purposes, it's where the reality distortion field meets customers' minds. We also have to give Apple's credit for good customer support through such stores. Apple may also collect customers requirements for future product design.

MS is in different position than Apple so MS retail stores may not sell only MS hardware but its partners' hardware also. It also remain to be seen how many store MS will have and where.

So it will depend how MS use the store and how effectively. But MS will fail if it simply copies Apple.

Have you seen a Microsoft Store? It looks just like an Apple Store. They even borrowed the positions of an Apple Store and just renamed them.

The problem is exactly what you said though...Microsoft has to support hardware of manufacturers that aren't their own. They have to face complaints on products that aren't their own. That's a hard thing to do in retail, especially when you have as many partners as Microsoft. Sure...they are starting to step into their own since creating the Surface...but you still have all those pesky PC and laptops out there. And although the easy thing would be to refer people to their manufacture, the reason Apple Retail has worked is quite often it is the first and last destination the customer needs to go. If Microsoft decides to stop using partners (or start making their own hardware next to their partners) then the Microsoft Store will work quite well. Otherwise you're going to get the experience like I did at AT&T and Sprint. People coming in with phones that don't work and workers having to refer them to the manufacture to get it fixed.

More stores will only add to the cost of devices. It is better to go Google/ Amazon way .- Online only to keep prices low.

actually no it won't. If by having only an online presence (current) and only sell a million devices vs having both online and store presence and selling three million devices AS LONG as selling those devices through the stores make the stores profitable the devices should technically be cheaper. ALSO the more they sell technically alone should make the devices cheaper because they are recouping less investment off each purchase.

I wonder if the Microsoft Store took over the space that the Sony Store left behind this summer in San Antonio?

Microsoft is opening a new store in San Antonio directly across from the Apple store.

I hope these stores have better associates. I love my Microsoft products but i can't shop at my nearby store because I've just had horrid times everytime i went to the Microsoft store. I'm sure the other stores are great i just think my store ended up with a bad batch of employees. Hopefully they fix that because im not visiting they're pretty stores until they do.
