Microsoft Surface will face a tough battle against the iPad, comic suggests

0. phoneArena posted on 19 Jun 2012, 02:29

So, the not-so-mysterious-anymore Microsoft Surface tablet is now official. Available in both Intel and ARM flavors, this Windows 8 slate is what the tech giant will use in effort to grab a bite of that lucrative tablet market. And as it usually happens after such a major product announcement, some people are going to drool over its specs sheet or start projecting how successful (or not) the device will be on the market, while others are simply going to stand aside and make fun of it...

Wow! Why the hell G-Note was on the comic art? It sells 7+ million on just 7 months.. it could probably surpassed the 10 million mark in just 1 year which is not pretty bad.

The galaxy note is not a true tablet.

the problem is.. Android is competing with themself too... :/ and MS and APPLE.. while apple only worry about 2 (android and MS) and as same as MS only worried about (apple and android)... Android cannot only worry about apple and ms.. they also have to do something more diferent than their partners.. and thats harder.. thats why i dont see a android tablet close to pull down ipad in the near future

Wow.. what an iFanboy comic. The HP TouchPad sold like hold buttercakes - and now it can run Android 4.0 - all for 99$!! The Note sold 10 million(!). Android tablets - most notably Transformer series - also have very impressive sales number. Ice cream Sandwich is the best mobile OS atm hands down. And the iPad is not the cool Neo who wishes to bring down evil Matrix Agents. In fact it's more along the lines of Dr. Doom - an egoistic evil maniac obsessed with world domination.

tablets are meant to be use as pc alternative when in a roadteup or something because it is very slim and very comfortable to use..but it can never replace for now the computers.. most of the tablets are dependent to conputers and others can upgrade themselves by using wifi..but internet access is made by co
puters..in short computer is the mother of tablet pcs today..^_^..

Most consumers are not techies, they want something that is easy and simple to use so they choose iPads. That results in a very limited amount of consumers that really understand technology and wish to do more than what the iPad offers and opt for android tablets. If i were to purchase a tablet for my parents I would not be getting them an android tablet simply because they are not tech savvy and iPad is very straight forward and easy to use.

Some people might debate that Linux is better than Windows but majority of people use Windows. Why? Again its easier to use and simple for the average user.

I'm not saying android os is hard to use but there are many people that can and could careless what else android can do and just want to play with their little angry birds.

I disagree at your assertion that Android tablet is not good for "parents". I believe that Android tablet is better than iPad because 16:9 form-factor is more suitable than the 4:3 form-factor for video and movie watching. Most high-definition video are in 16:9 or wider format, right? For home-made video, the 16:9 or 16:10 format is better because Apps can make use of the unused screen area to display text, or even advertisements!

I didn't say parents in general, I said MY parents. They are not tech savvy or have the need to do much with a tablet so it would be like a toy for them. For example, they don't NEED the convenience of transfering files via USB drive to the tablet where as someone who is on business needs to upload a file on their tablet from their USB drive would choose an Android tablet.

In my opinion and for my needs, Yes I agree, Android is the better tablet of the two. But I disagree with the only thing you have to offer to make your case about Android tablets being better than iPad is the screen aspect ratio... ?...

Also, I can buy many good 7" Android tablets with IPS screen at US$200 or less. They may be not of 1st-tier brand name. But, my parents' hands may not be steady and subject the tablet to high risk of being dropped or whatever. At US$200 or less, it is much less painful to buy another replacement should the tablet falling into pieces :)
