You posted all prices without touch cover. The 599 32 and 699 64 should say with touch cover.

No chance. Microsoft really made a bad decission. For 699 you should get the W8 pro version with the surface type cover at least.

The RT version without a keybord should start around 350.

Agree 100%.... The market has already shown that no one wants to pay $499 for anything other than an iPad reguardless of its features.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Yes they are. I will constantly say this to the end. If you are going to compete with the Ipad, you better be better and cheaper...The Microsoft tables could in a way be better, but look at the price. This thing will never sell. They will learn the hard way just like HP, HTC & so many others. Samsung will be next if they keep producing $499 tablets which are basically the same as the first and although Apple does this--they actually can because they have a base. I was standing beside a woman in Best Buy this weekend, and she didn't even know the difference between, 16, 32 and 64 gibabyes nor LTE version vs wi fi only and why the price difference. All she knew is that it was Apple and she wanted it. This is why it will be hard for manufacturer's to succeed in this tablet arena with these riduculous prices off the start!!!

iPad is still the king. Why are these these other tablets not coming with 1080p displays? The only worthy competitor to ipad is the transformer infinity 700 tablet. The surface is nothing.

Do you even use an iPad? It the best device for work and play. It's fast, fluid and has an awesome gpu and awesome games. Games which haven't even arrived to android yet. It takes stunning pictures and has beautiful display. My laptop crashed 3 months back and I have been using my new ipad ever since. I never wanna go back to any LAGGY windows s**t again that's why I just bought the MacBook Pro with retina display.

Hate playing games .. so yea a device if it's good for playing games also isn;t something that attracts me much. So ability to play games is out of equation.

Dude don't blame windows. In most cases it's user's fault behind those crashes. Windows if maintained properly, runs just as fine as any other so called 'robust, fluid' OS. So all this debate scores some points for Apple, to keep things simple. They block users from accessing the insides of OS, and that's why the stability. But you are blocked from doing all that advanced stuff. While on the other hand windows is always the first choice of advanced users. I've used mas and ios, besides the stability and polished feel it's just a locked access affair.

Good for you. Now go back to your Apple sites and enjoy life in ignorant bliss. No one wants to hear about your Apple products. Some people here love Windows and have no problem with it. I'm sorry you do, but please go crap on someone elses parade. If you love Apple so much, you should be totally content to live with it and feel confident enough to not have to bash other products to make you feel better about your decision.

It takes stunning pictures? You must be one of those ridiculous people who feel that the iPad is perfectly acceptable substitute for a point and click camera. Guess what, your wrong, you look really stupid holding up an iPad to snap that photo.

Ooops, that was for the Pro version. Though I've seen some reviewers that did some double blind tests with the screen vs the ipad and the RT was said to have a clearer sharper display. I'll have to see first hand of course.

For a new device being introduced with 0 market share and small number of apps, and pricing it as the ipad's, epic fail!

Microsoft lost out on a big opportunity. One of the most successful tablets was the Kindle Fire, I saw tons of people with them only months after it's release..... what made them so popular? The price point. With Microsoft needing more market share in the mobile area this would have been a very attractive product if it were priced at $300 or less.
