All-new Microsoft News app is here for iOS and Android users who want to be up-to-date

Microsoft today, rolled out its all-new Microsoft News app for iOS and Android users. The app can now be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Microsoft says that it aggregates news reports from the best sources including USA Today, The New York Times, FOX News, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Le Monde, Die Welt, El País, BBC News,  and Kyodo News to name a few.

The Microsoft News app, according to Microsoft, is like "having your own portable newsroom." You can open the app at anytime to see the latest news on the topics that you care about the most. And most importantly, there is a dark theme! This will allow you to view the app more easily at night. The revision seems to be Microsoft's response to the Google News app, which was launched last month.

Microsoft says that it receives over 100,000 stories from its news partners everyday. Using AI, each story is looked at for freshness, category, topic type, opinion content and potential popularity. Algorithms are used to find the best picture to go with each piece of content to make a story come alive. Stories are curated throughout the day so that users of the app have the freshest take on a subject matter.

Other features that Microsoft wants you to know about include:

  • New personalization upgrades, including the ability to tailor interests to follow in your news feed – such as World News, Personal Finance, Fitness and many more – and to roam interests across devices and local news options for top cities.
  • Easy to configure breaking news alerts.
  • Simplified access through seamless integration with iOS and Android widgets.
  • Continuous reading, for a smooth content experience.

If you're a news junkie, or just like to stay informed, you can install Microsoft News by clicking on the appropriate link: (iOS|Android).
