Possible Motorola Moto G7 certification reveals processor, storage, and more

Ahead of its expected release schedule, last week the Motorola Moto G7 was seemingly granted its certification by the FCC, a move which hinted at an early 2019 release. But today, this listing has been updated with a number of new documents, some of which reveal a few details about the device itself.

Starting off with the external side of things, the Moto G7 measures in at 156.86 x 75.4mm – the dimensions of the current-gen Moto G6 are 153.8 x 72.3mm. The screen size does remain unconfirmed at the moment, but the increase in size does point towards a panel of at least 6-inches. Thankfully, a sketch of the smartphone’s rear is included and it lines up with previously-leaked renders. This means that consumers should expect a notched display up front and a dual-camera setup on the rear.

Moving on to the internal side of things, the new documents refer to both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants once again, which is certainly no surprise considering Motorola’s history. Furthermore, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 is listed among the information, as is 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage. This would represent a significant upgrade over both the Moto G6 and G6 Plus, which are powered by the Snapdragon 450 and 630 respectively. Completing the package is set to be a pretty small 3,000mAh battery.

One other thing hidden within the documents is a confidentiality agreement. These agreements help avoid any unnecessary leaks but do also tend to hint at when smartphone announcements will take place – usually halfway through the stated period. Thus, with Motorola's Moto G7 agreement set to expire in May, an announcement in February at MWC 2019 now appears increasingly likely.
