Leaked iPhone 13/Pro 5G renders show off smaller notch, updated cameras

It's a brilliant day for the Apple aficionados who are waiting on updates about the iPhone 13, which is due to arrive by the end of this year as per Apple tradition. The people over at MySmartPrice and 91Mobiles have obtained alleged CAD renders of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro that show off their respective designs in full.
The iPhone 13 could have a smaller notch and a diagonal camera
The design of the iPhone 13 will remain largely the same, per these renders, with a classic iPhone 4 and iPhone X amalgam. The 6.1-inch all-screen display is identical to the latest models, although Apple is making changes to the notch.
The three Face ID sensors (Infrared camera, flood illuminator, and dot projector) are lined up next to each other, with the front-facing camera sitting alongside. The earpiece, on the other hand, has been moved to the edge of the frame.
This more compact setup means that Apple's notch can be shrunk, and that's exactly what the company has done. These renders show off a slightly smaller notch that lines up with the one seen on recently leaked glass panels and all of the rumors.
It's a subtle change, but after four generations of the same notch, there's no denying it's a welcome change. Per reports, it might also be the first step towards eliminating the notch entirely — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple to adopt a punch-hole in 2022 and an under-display Face ID setup in 2023.
The iPhone 13 rear still sports four cutouts — two for the cameras, one for the LED flash, and one for the ANC microphone — but the cameras are now aligned diagonally. There's no evidence about innovative additions like Apple's LiDAR sensors — that one must be reserve for the Pro models.
iPhone 13 Pro adds the smaller notch but keeps the same camera
Speaking of the iPhone 13 Pro, that phone's camera system will remain largely unchanged from a visual change. The renders suggest Apple is once again going to offer three cameras, a flash, and a microphone inside a square bump. The sensors and bump have grown in size, though, and now better align with the system seen on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max in particular is rumored to have a larger and better main camera sensor than the rest of this year's series, although the entire iPhone 13 line will reportedly boast an f/1.8 aperture in their ultrawide cameras, compared to the iPhone 12's f/2.4, so these may end up being some of the best camera phones around.
That's coupled with the updated notch, which itself is rumored to sit atop a 120Hz ProMotion display that draws less power. The iPhone 13 Pro display will see a remarkable 15-20% decrease in power consumption, with the device as a whole using 15% less battery according to DigiTimes.
More rumored iPhone 13 Pro specs
We've been getting plenty of leaks and educated guesses as to what the imminent iPhone flagship may contain for a while now. There's a strong possibility we might see Touch ID making a comeback beneath the display—although nothing is official until September.
We also know for sure that the iPhone 13 5G series will be sporting the 5-nanometer A15 Bionic chip, which will go into production next month and will likely also power next year's OLED iPad Air.
