Leak reveals entry-level BlackBerry 10 model

0. phoneArena posted on 04 Apr 2013, 12:48

Multiple sources are claiming that BlackBerry is going to offer a low-end "R-Series" which will resemble a mini version of the BlackBerry Q10 with a physical QWERTY keyboard; the device is expected to be available this summer with a MSRP in the area of $300 to $400 (that is obviously sans contract) and will offer side slots for the microSIM and microSD cards...

Entry level? But isnt the Z10 already an entry-level phone itself?

No, the Z10 is not "entry level." $200 on contract is not a gimme phone.

RIM Can keep whatever price they want but it does not make the 210 a premiUn Phone. Unf,'nished unstable Software and mediocre hardware of The 210 make it very fri from being a premier device.

He hasn't. The software is real good, although the hardware isn't that wowy and the design and materials could have been better. As a matter of fact, BB10, MeeGo and Symbian can mult-task better than android does and do it in lesser amount of hardware. iOS and WP are more fluid but don't multi-task truly. The only argument in favor of android is number of apps and customizing ability (not applicable to 75% of those who use android).

I own one, and you are spot on. Yes, the hardware and build could have more "wow," but it doesn't feel cheap like the S3, and the OS has true horsepower. The apps will come. I'm enjoying this handset far more than any Android phone I have owned.

If the Z10 is any indication of the phone quality. Seems like more junk from RIM.... too bad.

If Google can come up with a brilliant phone aka Nexus at a good price, why cant these companies offer something similar ???

google makes their revenue from services (advertisements) they provides; ie gmail, maps, search, ect and all the free apps in the play store that have the spinning advertisements at the top/ bottom or sometimes both.

so google can eat the cost to have their partner put out a product because the returning yield will be that much higher. the manufacturing partner doesnt care usually because they still offer a high end device that will have huge returns as well so both companies win.

blackberry is a closed ecosystem and the only real service they offer is BBM. so they make money off the hardware and not as much off the software so if they sell it at a lower cost they wont see any growth.

Yep. Google's only cost to you is your personal information, contacts, your social habit info, your location.... They likely have enough information about you to take your identity.
